Lansky actually gained a lot of respect from me after this. He's sticking to his guns with his vision of beauty despite (presumably) knowing how much of a backlash it would have. I don't believe there's inherently anything wrong or immoral about favoring longer hair over shorter hair on a woman, so I don't see what the big deal is about. Just because something is different or unique doesn't mean you have to find it aesthetically pleasing. If people can accept Riley's short hair, then surely they can accept Lansky's creative direction. Clearly Riley did or else she wouldn't have agreed to wear the wig in the first place. Look at it this way - how common is it for actors or actresses to wear wigs, facial hair, cut their hair or grow their hair for roles? Pretty common, right? How often do people boycott these movies/shows/plays/etc when this occurs? Is Lansky not known for pushing the envelope when it comes to Hollywood-esque cinematic movies with characters, story-lines and what not? We should cut him a bit of slack here. It's also not out of the ordinary for him to 'hide' things at times when it doesn't suit a particular role for one of his actresses (Sweatergate anyone?), and again, it's not like this isn't uncommon in mainstream entertainment. But because it's porn, somehow it's wrong and is taken as him not being accepting of women with 'unique' looks. Lansky may not like tattoos or short hair or implants, but that doesn't mean we should 'lose respect for him' or that he's 'not taking any risks.' He just has his own ideals when it comes to beauty that he's not willing to compromise too severely. It's perfectly fine and reasonable. He's human just like anyone else and shouldn't be held to a higher standard. I don't share all of his opinions nor do I share all of the opinions of any director. I do, however, accept them and take them for what they are. Opinions. Subjective opinions that I may or may not agree with. Nothing more, nothing less.

That's an interesting reading. I see the wig as evidence of Lansky avoiding risk (ie. he believes that most Blacked members would be aghast at Riley's natural hair), and not of taking risk.

I watched Lyra Louvel's scene again yesterday and would love to see her back. More importantly, I hope that Lansky books Holly Michaels ASAP if he hasn't already.
I doubt if he would have anticipated how much of a backlash it would have. I'm a little surprised myself. I've been critical of black models always getting their hair straightened and I'm alone on an island.... but a wig on a model with a shaved head really rallies the troops.
^ And are we all going to hold our collective breaths waiting for him to change? Would not be advised since there's little chance of that happening or him changing what he likes, what has worked, and what has made him a considerable amount of money so far.

For all the rage about wig-gate, I've got to throw out there that I'd probably be more down with the scene if the wig was A) not so obvious and B) more interesting. I thought Melanie Rios never looked better than she did sporting a wig in the Scarface parody.
^ Yeah, in the grand scheme of things, I'm not THAT annoyed at the wig in general. A little disappointed, but nothing that would keep my from enjoying the scene. The fact that it's such an obvious looking wig is what takes me out of the scene entirely.

Honestly, I had no clue that she was wearing a wig when I watched the trailer. It wasn't until I came here and read all the posts from these people so upset about it that I realized she was wearing a wig. Quite frankly, it makes no difference to me-still looks like another hot Blacked scene, as far as I'm concerned.
