To put things in perspective a handful of bots from Comcast can generate 6k page requests per minute with rotating IP addresses. They change IP addresses after 5 requests. If I block an IP address they show up almost immediately afterwards with a different IP. Thus far the only way to prevent this stuff has to been to block the whole ASN. This has the very unfortunate side effect of blocking legitimate traffic. But it's a tradeoff of sorts. Allow the bots and they sometimes take the whole site offline, block them and real users get blocked too.

Though I get on nearly every day, I only check a few threads (which I subscribe to), and don't post a lot. So, I figured it wasn't traffic from me specifically.

Hopefully, I won't get permanently blocked due to other bad actors.

If I do, how do I contact someone to get unblocked? Or is that not necessary?

Whoever is operating this bot network will often send a swarm of 5 to 10 scarpers at a time making requests like this. The peaks are around 6k requests/minute making it through the defenses to the servers that host the site.
