Recently joined Brazzers.com and have downloaded a few of their 1080p TruLife HD scenes- download times (at an average of 115kbs) run from about 8 hours to 12 hours. I recently purchased the 1955 film Violent Saturday (non HD) from Amazon and it took about 3 and a half hours. My question is (from an obviously not-so-computer-savvy bloke) do these download times seem normal and/or what steps can I take to speed up the downloads not only from Brazzers but from other sites as well? Are there any trusted software aps or is this simply more of an ISP issue? Thanks
What are the file sizes? Are you downloading these HD scenes one at a time or multiple scenes at a time? Obviously, the larger the file size, the longer it will take. It sounds about right if you're downloading several gigs at a time and the non HD thing you downed is much smaller. Edited by - randomprecision on 6/16/2011 1:42:53 PM
115kbps? That's a fairly slow speed for downloading HD files. Try this link to get your speed: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ (note that this is US-centric, if you're not in the US you will likely have more latency). When I did the speed test, I got around 12 Mbps, which is about 100 times faster than your speed. I'm presuming the 115kbps is not a limitation of the Brazzers site, but perhaps it had to do with the time of day/night you were downloading.

Random- the Brazzers file sizes range anywhere from 2.8 GB's to 4 GB's. I'm only downloading one 1080p scene at a time. The movie from Amazon is 1.71 GB Thanks to you both.
I'm guessing the speed limit is your ISP? If you are limited to around 115kbs download speeds by your ISP then yes, these times sound completely normal.
I have the same problem with bangbros. I can download at 20Mbit/s but when I download content from the site I'm locked at around 100 to 200Kbp/s if I'm lucky. Sometimes even slower. With other sites like Blacksonblondes for example I can download clips at maximum speed. I'm guessing sites like bangbros and brazzers are doing squeezing their servers on purpose so we can't download at full max. For me a reason not to join them again because they are releasing some big HD clips but I don't want to wait for like 4 hours for 1 clip to finish.

I get full speed (20mb) on both sites. Question? What DL manager are using? Sometimes that can be the problem.
Actually I'm not using any DL manager and there's no other internet activities going on that eats up bandwith. I should admit that sometimes I could download a bangbros clip at full speed but only 1 clip. If I tried the next one my download speed was reduced like 10 times as low. It's like they were having a secret download limit. Like only 1 clip each day.
I get Brazzers downloads at 20Mbps as well. For the most part, I use DownloadThemAll as my DL manager for Brazzers. The exception is when I download Brazzers Live scenes, I use FlashGot/JDownloader because I've had problems watching those scenes when I download them with DownloadThemAll. At full speed a HD Brazzers download takes about 15 minutes.
Using a Download Manager is "supposed" to be better for speed. IIRC they are designed to handle all that network stuff better/faster/smoother/more robustly than does your web browser's built-in downloader.
I use DownThemAll, which is a Firefox add-on. I installed it because of its convenience features, nothing to do with speed. So someone more knowledgeable may recommend a different download manager if speed is the main focus.
I seriously doubt using a download manager is going to make that much of a difference. It sounds like someone is deliberately limiting your speeds. IOW, I can't really see it going that low and staying there unless someone, somewhere has set a hard limit. Otherwise (like if it were just line conditions or something), the speed may fluctuate but it would probably do so wildly and be at full speed one minute and half speed the next.
Here's an article explaining how download managers accomplish the speed increase. Having read the article, I agree with RP that something beyond that is happening to cause Ramsey's brazzers/bangbros download slowdowns.

A lot of sites discourage the use of download managers, some even deactivate your account if they suspect it. Check the terms of service agreement before using one. World Class Adult Reviews
MM, the first thing you need to do is dig out your service agreement and see what speed your ISP contracted to provide you. As RP suggests, if your contract is for 128Kbps then that explains your problem. Sorry if I'm repeating things you already know but, just to be on the safe side: Kbps = Kilo bits per second. A bit is the smallest unit of data, equal to a one or a zero. Kilo usually means 1000, but since computers operate in the binary world it actually equals 1024. Ergo, 128Kbps is 131,072 bits per second, not very much if you're trying to download a 2.1 Gigabyte file - 2.1 x 8,589,934,592 bits.
