Her Qualifications? Jesse is well-liked by most folks in the biz, she has a loyal porn buying fan base--and, most importantly, with her Playboy TV job, having hosted the AVN Awards, and hosting the Porn Star Ball, she seems to be the go-to girl to "represent" the porn biz at mixed events. Being strictly objective, I think Jesse has the potential to star in several blockbusters, and give great performances, in the future. Plus Jesse has the determination and drive of a US Marine Corps battalion. If I were handicapping this on who I "want" to be the next Jenna, it would be Monique Alexander. Jenna Haze and Bella have done way to much on screen in their careers which has made them less marketable outside of porn. There is nothing wrong with the scenes and stuff Jenna and Bella have done cause it has made them huge stars within the industry but leaves little room to do anything else. Tera followed or at least tries to follow the Jenna game plan for exposure and business and it works for her although not with as much success as Jenna had simply because jenna was first. Tera is making a planned effort to be the #1 pornstar while Jesse and Stormy just seem to be out there. Stormy seems to be popping up a lot lately but she doesn't seem to be really selling it that she's a porn star and not doing things that really stand out. Yeah, it might be a big deal for a porn star but for people unfamiliar with who she is she really isn't doing anything that outstanding or memorable and not really selling the "pornstar" aspect. Outside or porn Jesse's biggest exposure to the mainstream have been her part in Seymore Butts Showtime show and her flings with Tommy Lee and kid Rock. Being on PLAYBOY TV doesn't hurt and may help her DVD sales but I suspect the people who watch PLAYBOY TV are already porn fans and are already familiar with plenty of porn stars. Does anyone outside of Porn even know who Jenna Haze is? Mary carey is far more known than Jenna Haze is and Mary can't seem to capitalize on her noterity. (This totally eliminates Mary Carey from consideration.) But Jenna Haze, while being a dynamite performer--and her scenes rock--she has done this work in tons of shitty videos. Contrast with Jenna Jameson, love her or not, who has starred in many sexvids that sold in the gazillions, won tons of awards, and set new standards for quality product in the biz. "Flashpoint" has just re-issued a 10th Anniversary edition, and has been on the bestsellers charts for most of that time. Ten years! Plus Jenna Haze is still an "employee" in the biz, and isn't seen as a "leader" by the other girls on ways of being more successful on a business/financial level--another thing that Jenna Jameson did. This is really what porn girls meant when they said they "want to be the next Jenna." Successful financially in an ever-changing business. None of which is knocking Jenna Haze as one of the top performers in the biz today--I'm just doing a comparison. Bottom line: one of the points of this thread is that Jenna Jameson has some really big shoes to fill...and maybe there's nobody, Jesse Jane included, who can step up. Ginger, Tori and Ashlyn were Stars in the Alternative Universe known as Porn. Jenna became a Star in the Porn biz AND a "celebrity" in the mainstream world. That's the difference between Jenna and the others. The industry will almost certainly "crown" a new #1 Porn Star (Jesse Jane, Tera, or Jenna Haze are obvious choices) based upon fan support & industry marketing, and the porn press. But my question is will the new #1 be able to cross-over to mainstream celeb status like Jenna Jameson? And continue to positively represent the biz to the outside world? And, by example, recruit new, quality performers into the biz--not just girls with no other choices for paying the rent. And will the new #1 be acceptable to enough 30/40 year-old mainstream civilians to counter the stepped-up attempts by moral conservatives to shut down the billion dollar porn industry? Since the release of Jenna Haze Darkside in April of last year (which is still selling "afew" and got "afew" awards), I can tell you at least 20 movies starring Jenna Haze that were in the Top Sellers and Rentals. Jenna Haze IS a Top seller HERSELF, and for sure companies in the biz know it; if not, she wouldn't be as busy as she is....... And no, Jenna Haze doesn't has 10+ years of marketing behind her. Just an add (my 2nd edit, sorry): also there is lots of Jenna Haze movies where her scene was over the top, but you also have good scenes in the rest of the video, like in "Dirty Little Stories", "Grand Theft Anal 9", "Semen Sippers 5", "A-List 2", "Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge", "Evil Anal 2"... just to name afew. Teagan Presley is still in the running. Tiffany Rayne had her chance, and I don't think Hillary Scott wants it even though she could have it. Brea Bennett could if she can figure things out and get a better PR team behind her. But if you look at popularity at conventions and appearances, Tera Patrick and Belladonna seem to have the longest lines next to Jenna Jameson's...but they still seem to be a tenth of her lines. For anyone to come close to replacing Jenna J. as the pornstar that the mainstream knows she has to be idenified as a pornstar with her appearances. With stars like Jenna J., Tera P., Jesse J., Nina Hartley, or even Ron Jeremy when they appear on something it's usually as "So and So...Pornstar". Even when Gina Lynn was in the Eminem video a big deal was made that she was a pornstar. To have an impact the mainstream must know she's a pornstar. If not, then she's just a sexy/pretty girl popping up in places. I'm not saying Jenna Haze couldn't get to that place but as of now I just don't think she's there yet from what I can tell. [Link]

Have to remember when Jenna came in, the biz was not a $4 billion industry and was still taboo to many. It became more mainstream towards the end of the 90's and so the face of the biz has changed. Even now with the over saturation of performers because they come and go so fast compared to say the 1998-2003. Also with so many fans buying gonzo over features, that plays a big part as well for the mainstream. Until Jenna J's movies start to lose steam, she will still be the Queen of Porn to many. Not sure if anyone will overtake her anytime soon. Regardless that alot seem to bash her, her sales seem to still be steady and no piss poor. [Link]

There are too many women coming in and out of the biz these days. Turnover is so high that it's given rise to "RIGHT NOW" pornstar(s) as the "it" girl(s) for the industry instead of that one "RIGHT" pornstar to be the permanant spokewoman for the industry. I think the days of having "one queen to represent" are over too. Not to mention, I think customers' tastes are becoming harder and harder to satisfy as well. Hence, fewer and fewer viewers are being loyal to one girl to allow for a "queen of porn." I think for the next few years we're going to have "several princesses" who all represent on a smaller level...but that's it. I know for me, my tastes change. For awhile there, I was big into Hilary Scott, then Chelsie Rae really did it for me, then Roxie Jezel, and now I'm really digg'in Taryn Thomas. So for me, my tastes rarely stay on one girl "long-term." Like a lot of people, I like variety, and tend not to have an "it" girl. But instead I have several "it" girls at once--and they change over time. And I think that's what's happening on the "macro-level" for the business too. There seems to be a bunch of "it" girls doing their thing right now. But none of whom could be honestly deemed as "current queen" per se IMO. Nobody seems to be able to put forward a girl with the ability to represent, intelligently, the industry with the mainstream press. Who can replace Jenna Jameson as the "Spokesmodel" for Porn. Also, what about Jenna as a "role model" for other girls in the biz. She led the way as a successful business woman in a very (owner) male-dominated industry. Example: Jenna pulled off the classic small business entreprenuership thing in starting "Club Jenna", making it a valued product in the industry, then selling it (to Playboy) for a huge payday. This could be a Harvard Business School Case Study. I repeat: this is what porn girls mean when they say they want to "be like Jenna" or "be the next Jenna." A successful business woman. People can just get their porn as easily as grabbing a banana from the kitchen counter, without so much worrying that key members of the community will take their beloved porn away. So there's like 1000 signal fires now instead of any need to huddle together around one bonfire. But if Kate Hudsen turned pornstar, I think she would automatically become the spokesperson. It would take something like that, though. So that leaves us with the question of who's going to be porn's butler. (I believe that title should go to Travis over at Zero T.) [Link]
