I was taking pictures in the park today and I twisted my ankle and fell, dropping the camera and losing the card cover in the gravel road. I think dropping it did considerably more damage than merely breaking off the card flap, because now the lens is stuck in zoom and the camera won't turn on at all. I guess I probably should get a new one anyway, since they don't really seem to make this model anymore, and I'm probably due for an upgrade. But it's good to know that you can buy pieces like that individually online, for future reference. Now if anybody can recommend a decent little camera that's easy for a clumsy nitwit like me to operate.  [Link] |
| jayo All-Star Member 2117 Posts 7/04 | Posted - Sep 24 2008 : 9:32PM Personally, for point-n-shoots, I like the Canon S series (I think the current one is an S5, but you might still find a new S3 for a great price). They're in-between a simple point-n-shoot and a DSLR. They have one helluva zoom, good picture quality, and a load of features. They're small and light so they fit smaller hands nicely, and contoured so they feel better than many of the rectangular point-n-shoots (like an A95). They also have a few accessories (like a wide angle and a telephoto lens, and a macro lens, and filters). The downside is they're larger than an A95 and they won't tuck in a purse or pocket as easily. [Link] |

Most indoor stuff I don't even need a flash because it has settings for indoor pics and everything. The flash that comes on it is pretty weak anyways. My avatar/profile pic was taken with it and i really, really, really like the swivel lcd screen. That's probably the most awesome part of it. You can get all kind of crazy shots with that without having to get on the ground or get into weird positions or whatever to get a unique shot. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
