Does anyone know if Caballero alters the contents of films that they transfer
to DVD? How about videos of their older titles such as "House Of Dreams",
"Secrets", and "Night Trips"? I can only think of one instance where they edited
something from a tape of "Filthy Rich" I bought some time ago. It seems
to me that there have been quite a few complaints against them with
regard to poor quality film to DVD transfers; I couldn't help but wonder if they
did the editing too.

Hi, JS -

I will have to look at my copy of NIGHT TRIPS 2, which has serious chapter stop problems (you cannot reverse scan search past a chapter point). I bought the other Blake films on the DaViD label, and they were mediocre as far as picture quality goes.

But with their other titles like MIAMI SPICE and 8 TO 4, the end credits are definitely shorn (it's so obvious because the music stops and the DVD reverts back to the menu). The chapter stop problems are always present. Next to VCX and Pixis, Caballero really does one of the shoddiest transfer jobs I have ever seen.

One of the biggest problems with the Caballero DVDs I've seen is that each chapter is encoded as a separate title track, which explains the inability to scan across the chapters. It also results in a momentary pause between each and every chapter, similar to a layer change. Bad news!
