Saw an article that Amazon was down for around 2 hours today. That's like every Walmart store across the country locking its doors simultaneously. Having worked on the inside, I can imagine what a panic every employee was in. The article I read speculated that it could be a configuration error, or an overloaded server. Once when I was there the cooling systems broke in the server room in northern Virginia. The room reached around 97 degrees at one point, if I recall correctly. It's interesting. DNS queries for imdb.com resolve properly. If I go to http://imdb.com it 301 redirects to http://www.imdb.com which doesn't resolve.[Link]
