I just hate animated gifs. I've been to too many forums filled with posts with animated shit. It's sometimes enough to induce epileptic seizures.

We require images to be stored on our server so that we can remove them if necessary. It's not just 2257, we also get a not-insignificant number of DMCA takedown notices we have to comply with. With the images on our server I can copy/paste the offending image URL into an admin page and "poof" it's gone. Content providers appreciate immediate responses to takedown notices. If we allowed animated gifs they would have to be on our server. I haven't looked at the tech specs in a while but there should be a way for me to reprocess them into a static image as a placeholder with a clickable JQuery action to make them play. [Link] |
