Am I the only one who cannot play his Vivid DVDs on his Windows XP ? Almost all the other distributors work without a problem (with the occasional Z-grade DVD only playing on my regular LG player), but with Vivid discs it's systematic. And the boxcovers boast that they're DVD-Rom compatible. But my DVD-rom don't recognize them. It says "insert disc in D/:". Well, it's there, honey.

I don't have Windows XP, but the Apple player in OS X refuses to recognize the one Vivid DVD we still own (it's Lifeguard, which Mr. Yoga likes because he likes Jennifer Stewart).
It did run fine on the old Apple player in OS 9, the last I checked.
I've played many Vivid DVDs on my Windows XP without any problem. What DVD player are you running on XP? Also, which Vivid DVDs do you have problem running?

The DVD player is a Matshita DVD-ROM SR-8587. None of my Vivid DVDS can be played on my XP, which include "Fade to Black", "If you only knew", "House of sleeping beauties 3", "Unconscious", "Sold" & "Bankable". The disc just doesn't run, and the player acts as if there's no DVD to read.
Out of those DVDs you listed, I have "Fade To Black" and just tested it on my DVD-ROM drive. It works fine. Hmm... I'm using PowerDVD program. What type of software DVD program are you using to view the DVD?

Just trying to help out I tried House Of Sleeping Beauties 3 (with Lexus & Taylor Hayes)on my Dell 2400 Dimension using PwerDVD on a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616T ... it plays.
In my limited experience, it is not normally the software or the operating system that is suspect. Usually it is the hardware.
Your drive just might not like their disks.
The only way to prove it, would be to install a different drive in your machine and try it.
You might be able to ask around some tech-y places - maybe even here. Somebody might know something about that drive. How about emailing the disk manufacturer? maybe they've already heard from others with the same drive as you. If you can pin it down, even if you can't fix it, you can save your time and quit looking. :)
Sorry, I didn't watch this thread any longer but thanks for the answers. And the solution waaaaaaas (rolling drums)..........a lens cleaner . Yes, I'm stupid. Still, it's very surprising that the drive accepted all other DVDs but not Vivid. But a CD-cleaner got rid of the problems. My next mission is how to turn off the multi-angles icon. I've tried to disable it from the main menu, tried to disable the subtitles as advised in this same forum, all to no avail. It stays on on my Xp and on my regular DVD player. I do think it's an authoring problem, as other Vivid lovers I know from another board have the same problem.
If you're talking about the multi-angle icon produced by the DVD itself, Vivid's early DVD's didn't have the option of turning the icon off. However, you may be seeing the icon produced by your DVD player. If that's the case, turn the on-screen display off on your DVD player (it should be a menu option).
