| Cassandra Calogera Member 152 Posts 2/08 | Posted - Apr 3 2009 : 4:31PM well i am having an awesome week, i started my diet/exercise plan and things are off to an awesome start. heres a flash back to my past for you guys to let you all in on why this weight loss/ health plan is so important to me right now. I have struggled with eating disorders since the age of 13...both with anorexia, excessive exercising, and bulimia being the worst of the three. i have been on all ends of scale, anywhere from 73 pounds to 160 pounds. I was hospitalized many times, saw countless therapists, nutritionists etc to try to help me get my eating disorder under control and nothing ever convinced me to stop. I've struggled with heart problems due to my disorder, bradycardia, low blood pressure, low potassium, had esophageal tears a couple times which can lead to instant death but none of it ever phased me because i never thought my life was important. now i have been working on my eating disorder, and other issues as well intensely for the past 6 months...but i finally feel the self worth that i was missing before. im not losing weight just to "look hot in clothes" im exercising to strengthen my heart, to try to treat my body well after years of abuse i have put it through. so anyways, then past ten days i started going to the gym and eating well...on a strict diet plan that gives me all the nutrients i need and going to the gym to make me stronger and more fit. it just feels so awesome to care about myself again...i guess this is a big deal for me because i don't think i have had self worth for a VERY VERY long time. i have so much more energy all ready, im not tired all the time and its only been a week! i guess i just wanted everyone to know WHY i was making this weight issue so prominent, while a small percentage is because i want my fans to think i look great...95% of why this is important to me is because i am ready to be a happy, healthy individual who actually cares about herself and treating her body with the respect it deserves. i think you all will notice the difference in me upon my return to the business...and not in how i look necessarily, hopefully you WILL notice some of those changes as well! but more so in my attitude...i can feel it already! i feel so upbeat, positive, energetic, like the REAL me has been hiding inside of me and now its like HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOO (insert the voice from the seinfeld episode) haha anyways that was probably boring for all of you...but im happy to have you all here as fans, you mean a lot to me and i just wanted to let you in on a more personal side of my life. xoxo Cassandra [Link] |

But after a few weeks it might get a bit tougher to keep up with, when the initial excitement dies down. But if you know that this period is coming up, then you know not to get depressed by it, and to continue with the positive changes you've made in your life. I wish you the best. I basically spent my 20's in a drunken haze, and grew to hate myself and the world in general. The only thing that kept me going was hope that things could get better. What worked for me was changing the way I looked at life by changing how I think. I focused on just trying to be a better person and doing the next right thing - being confused and depressed made that frustratingly difficult at times, but in the simplest terms, what you think you will produce... if you want to be happy, your thoughts must be happy ones... if you are not satisfied with the results you are getting in your life the remedy is to think different thoughts to get different and (hopefully) better results... to change yourself for the better it must be done from within to without... In the case of past grievances and wrongs that you have experienced or have done, they cannot be changed. What can be done is to change the way you look at them in the now, and to forgive anyone who had wronged you as well as yourself. To hold any resentment is to tie yourself to that person/situation and all the problems that come with it. As long as any resentment remains, the same problems will keep cropping up in different forms. Forgiveness is very important in healing yourself, and in becoming the person that you ultimately want to become. I wish you luck Cassandra, and I think it is a really good idea to seek therapy... lol, I know I would have if I could have afforded it, but I hope that you are able to find whatever you need, and the patience and strength to keep striving on while it feels like your world is falling apart.
