| DP Jones Member 511 Posts 10/03 |  Posted - Jan 3 2005 : 11:35PMA quickie:I bought a cd burner at a computer sale(my first mistake?)quite a long time ago.I know nothing about these things.I've tried time and again to get this thing to work,here's the deal: I put the burner in,hook up all the cables,turn the computer back on,while the computer is starting up the cd burner light goes on,I can open and close the disc tray and if I put a cd in it spins.But as soon as the computer is done with startup the cd burner is basically "dead".When I go into the "add new hardware"setup,it doesn't recognize the cd burner. Some drives may want to be set up as the master in order to work properly. (your installation and documentation should explain more about this) [Link] |
