^You make some valid points and it may be that you are correct but my gut feeling is that the vast majority of performers who leave porn behind them do so in the hope that it will remain behind them. The ones that have been gone the longest have the best chance of their porn past remaining a secret for two reasons. The first is that they may precede the internet and therefore their social imprint is significantly reduced from their more modern counterpart. The other reason is that as they age they also change in appearance to the point where most of them look less and less like what we remember them looking like. Something to consider is that although they may be at peace with their porn past does not mean that they want it to be revealed. Especially if they have children who are unaware of said past. On the flip side there are those performers who haven't completely walked away from their porn past and those are easy to identify because they make a point of being very active on multiple social media platform or by using other methods of interacting with fans. Cam sites would be one of those other methods. Lastly I will only say that if you encounter a former porn performer in person or on a social media platform and she isn't actively promoting or discussing her porn past than you are better off erring on the side of caution and not bring up her porn past.
I know I've found a few of my favorite porn stars from the late & 90's on social media. I never feel good about researching another human being like that. It's a weird situation because we know them but they don't know us. When I find them it's always a happiness in knowing they've moved on & living fairly happy lives. When it's a star you really followed & were attached to, it feels good to know they're doing well. There's also the feeling that you're intruding on someone's life by looking them up. It's really not my business. I sometimes have the urge to contact them to say how much they meant to me in college but I don't think that's a good idea. If they've walked away from the industry, leave them alone. As much as I'd want them to feel good knowing a fan thought so highly of them, they'll probably be horrified that someone located them. Let them have privacy. I know I'd want that. As an aside, I did learn that the star most dear to me early on, Alicia Monet, did pass away. That was sad to learn.
I'm kind of surprised to not see mention of Angel of 80s fame. I ran into her in California two years ago. She is still a stunning woman. If you can rely on her internet bios, she just turned 50. She's still a tall, thin woman with a nice figure. A mature woman who has filled out in the right places from her lithely youth. When I saw her, there was no mistaking that it was Angel. The face, the smile and those beautiful cheekbones were almost the same. I can't tell you if she is open about her past with fans who run into her. I was completely starstruck at the time and didn't know what to do. In my opinion, Angel was the most beautiful woman of the 80s. Perhaps the most beautiful ever. 80s porn were very impressionable on me as they marked my youth. From what I read awhile back, someone said she experienced a personal tragedy a few years after retiring. She seemed happy and sweet when I saw her interact with others. I'd like to believe that she is a happy and sweet person.
^The following statement is the way I look at how you are suppose to interact with past performers. If these performers choose to go to places where they will be guaranteed to interact with their fans than please go ahead and introduce yourself and start to talk to them but if these same ex-performers have left the industry behind them and avoid any place where they are assured to meet their fans than they should be left alone. This is especially true if these ex-performers are with their friends and/or family. Now I don't know about your particular meeting with Angel and at this point it's useless to speculate on what you should have done but in general it's best to err on the side of caution to avoid causing serious arm to the life of those past performers.
Angel corresponded some with a fan who ran a Yahoo! Group dedicated to her some years ago and sent him a then recent photo so I'm guessing she's not totally negative about her porn career. A recentish photo turned up on a message board that deals with vintage porn (initials VEF) and she is indeed still a stunningly beautiful woman.
^The fact that she basically dealt with only one fan tends to make me think that she prefers to leave her past porn career well behind her. Frankly I can't see any advantage for her in rehashing her porn career because she has been retired for nearly 30 years and she precedes the internet by enough years that her face and movies can't be easily found.

This is an awesome thread! Most of these women take car of themselves which runs counter to the "tragic former porn star" myth people like to circulate. I have had FB or Twitter contact and interactions with some you have posted. Same humans that have moved on to something else. Good job on this topic. I've been trying to find info on Nikki Knights for years. She's my white whale and looks like she hasn't changed a whole lot. A very underrated performer and has aged better than most. Unfortunately she was out of the business when I started collecting autographs and never had the chance to meet her at VSDA or CES when they would make appearances back in the day. Felecia was inducted into one of the later Bill Margold's Legends of Erotica.
