If really true, this adds fuel to speculations that Red Light District Video might be getting the Icon Tom Byron (and/or distribution rights to Extreme Associates' movie catalog?). Wanker Wang reports the following story on Luke Ford. Extreme Associates R.I.P. Wanker Wang Writes: I'm crying as I write this. It's about as official as it can be without being absolutely official. The once almighty Extreme Associates is sputtering on for dear life, clinging for any vestige of value it may have once had. I hear it all the time from people all around me. I hear it from distributors, duplicators, replicators, talent, print people, photo developers, everyone. I can say that Extreme is now a dead company. One stop stores are fleeing from Extreme product as their lines sell, at best, 800 units out the door. Some distributors are pissed at the low grade, second generation tapes. Some distributors are pissed because they sold product for a quick cash infusion for pennies on the dollar to a wholesaler. The few directors inside are pissed because it's nearly impossible to book talent who are afraid of bounced checks. Any level of qualified post production facilitators will not take Extreme accounts for fear they won't be paid. And as the compilation titles, foreign titles, and cheap blowjob titles grow, the value of Extreme has taken a steep downward spiral making the owners of Fat Dog Productions proud. It's a remarkable turn of events for a company which once housed some of the best talent in the business. Bar none. Imagine a company which had contract girls such as Kristi Myst, Jessica Darlin, Alana Evans, Cherry Mirage, Ashlyn Gere, Amber Lynn, Monique, Tiffany Mynx, Veronica Caine. Now they have nothing. Absolutely nothing. Imagine a company which once had among its employees Luciano, Slain Wayne, Van Damage, Brandon Irons, Craig Daze, Mark Woods, Mark Kulkis, David Aaron Clark, Jane Waters, Francesca Le, Charlie Crow, David Luger. Now they have nothing. In nearly every single situation, there were monetary or loyalty issues. In the past year, they have lost, for better or for worse, nearly their entire staff. Gene Ross, Thomas Zupko, Dave Penycofe, Brad Siskin, their entire administrative staff, Venus Bomb and her mail order staff, and Johnny Webb, their head editor. And they haven't been replaced. I always said that if Webb left, so goes the entire company. Meanwhile, not only does female talent refuse to work there, male talent feels the same way as they resort to retards like Burke and some bald headed 40 year old named Adam as their key male talent. They have to resort to blowjob-forcing, phone stalkers like Steve Austin who tells girls never to work for Extreme on the drive over there. It's so sad. I worked there for nearly 7 months as the only webmaster. But I did, in fact, see the writing on the wall at one point. One pivotal day told me I had to bail. Everyone there knew it was coming but no one said anything. It was a Friday. There was a crowd in the lobby waiting for checks which I knew would not clear. Then I received a call from a girl in Colorado who starred in numerous scenes months before who's check did not clear and had an arrest warrant out for her in Colorado based on bad checks she wrote. Her mother called, pleading with me to help her daughter. Her daughter had to tell the mother what she did because she didn't know what to do. I nearly wrote out a check to her myself as I did on numerous occasions. That was the icing on the cake. I knew I was gone the second after I took that call. I asked Dave, the accountant, that this check had to clear, especially for moral reasons. He informed me they simply did not have the money. I don't lead my life that way, and I felt inherently responsible for the ills of the company. I didn't let Extreme down. They let me down. The longer you stay under a circumstance of that nature, the more responsible you become. And that next day, I came in early, packed my stuff, and left. I drove all the way to the G.M.'s apartment and threw the keys at him. I was pissed with nowhere to go. I was so fucking naive at that point, I practically didn't know any other companies existed. However, it was at Extreme that I learned everything I could. Gene Ross took me under his wing, tutoring me about the entire industry. I was hungry to learn every facet of guerrilla webmastering and filmmaking that I couldn't learn from my University. It was the greatest learning opportunity I could imagine. And once the learning curve stopped, once the enthusiasm died, it was time to go. When I left, the avalanche just started as a string of firings and quittings began. The badge of honor became a badge of shame. Luckily, I went from the worst company out there to the best, and now I'm venturing out on my own to do my own thing. It was all because of Extreme Associates. Extreme was a temporary bus stop for wayward newbie bastards like myself. So it saddens me to report that Extreme is now dead. Maybe not officially. Their adamant devotion to wrestling has destroyed and decimated the company. Their insistence on keeping two bonafide idiots like Kevin Kleinrock and Smiley Johnson whose entire roles in life is to wipe the owner's ass has annihilated the company. I refused to kiss ass like those two humble-pie eating butlers. And their horrendous financial practices have made it virtually impossible to come out with new titles. The only remaining saving graces for the company are Derek Newblood, Scott Snot, and Tom Byron. But I have a feeling things will change even more in the coming weeks. I personally love Rob, Lizzy, and Tommy. So it saddens me to bid adieu. What happens when a production company tries to shout but all you hear is the faint gasps for air? It's over. Click to expand True, Planet, but look at all that's transpired since then. Look at everything that Wanker Wang just wrote. Remember, Wanker Wang actually worked at Extreme Associates and has direct ties there (unlike the original Luke Ford). Personally, I think it's a completely different situation this time. True, even Wanker Wang stopped short of actually saying that it was official. But in light of everything he just reported, it would be very difficult for any company to come back from such a low ebb. If you go to the Extreme site, they are advertising in their "latest news" movies that are years old. Profiling directors that left a long time ago (only a couple of months ago they were slagging all over Michael Stefano aka Luciano and just a couple of weeks ago he's on on Exterme's home page as a featured director and they are trying to sell his movies. They have not released a new movie in months. All of their latest releases have been comps (The Lex comp being an example of this). Nobody will shoot scenes for them as they are afraid they won't get paid. The dvd's are among the worst in quality on the market. The Wrestling nonsense ruined this company, and they are paying for it now. [Link]

Here's a copy and paste of the anonymous e-mail with a preface from Carly: EXTREME AND THE DODO According to Wanker Wang, those two subjects have something in common. Guess what that is? This afternoon I was sent an anonymous e-mail on the subject and seeing as it granted me the ability to publish it, I shall do so now. It's an interesting read, but I must reiterate: I don't know anyone at Extreme, I've never worked with them, so these opinions do not necessarily reflect my own. They're the opinions of a Pornblography reader. That said, here's the e-mail: Hey, Carly, Just saw Wang's "Ode to Extreme" on the lf.com site, and I have to wonder, is this guy just a glutton for punishment or what? I mean, maybe it's the Stockholm Syndrome, where kidnapped people learn to love their kidnappers. I can't think of anything else that explains all the "warm fuzzies" for a company that screwed nearly everyone that ever worked for it or dealt with it, including Wang himself! Let me make it real clear: THESE ARE BAD PEOPLE! They pretty much have been since the company started, but they got worse. (Tommy's probably the only exception, and if he knew what was good for him, he'd get his ass out of there before he goes down in fuckin' flames like the rest of them... unless it's too late already.) From the reports I've seen, they bounced checks left and right, and pretty much screwed anybody they owed money to. I remember Ross boasting on his website that they tried to pay one of their bills in pennies. Bet that really broke 'em up down at the pool hall. Fuckin' kid stuff. I also personally know at least half a dozen people who would have sued those assholes for lies told about them on Ross's site, but didn't because it would have cost them a bundle to do it and they knew the company didn't have enough money to pay them when (not if) they won. I've seen people in tears from the crap that Ross printed about them. I got a real chuckle out of that long list of talent and directors that worked for Extreme over the years. I mean, the list was cute, but people who read it ought to go up to some of these girls at conventions (like Ashlyn, like Kristi, like Tiffany, like Stryc), like I did, or directors (like Van, like DAC) and ask them how Extreme fucked them over while AND AFTER they worked there, and get the REAL story that ISN'T told by that suck-up Wang. Ask Jewel and Looch. Talk about promises made that were broken without a second thought. Talk about money promised that was never paid. Talk about directing gigs promised but never fulfilled. Talk about work caged for free for promises of jobs that were never delivered on. Talk about ownership rights promised but never signed over. Talk about women trying to put out a good scene who were PHYSICALLY ABUSED till they were black and blue for DAYS! Promise, promise, promise — fuck-over, fuck-over, fuck-over! "In nearly every single situation, there were monetary or loyalty issues," says Wang. Yeah, THAT about covers it! Wang says, "Their adamant devotion to wrestling has destroyed and decimated the company." But that was Extreme's problem from the beginning: They thought they were in the wrestling business, so they could diss anybody they wanted, tell whatever lies they wanted, screw over anybody they wanted, do all that rah-rah face-up shit because hey, it was all part of The Game, because once the camera's turned off, everybody's buddy-buddy. Well, it wasn't, and they weren't, and now everybody in the industry who's got half a brain knows it. I'd like to think that if someone had JUST ONCE shouted in Black's ear, "THIS IS THE PORN BUSINESS, YOU ASSHOLE!!!" that it would have made a difference, but I don't think it would have. And let's not forget the turds Extreme is leaving behind that will probably stink up the Valley for years: That Frontline story about Lizzy's shoot with Veronica getting kidnapped and raped. Bet the TV viewers really got off on THAT one. And if they didn't, the feds sure did. And then there's that kiddie type shit I read about that the lawyer showed at the Max Hardcore trial. (I heard a rumor that the reason the cops never busted Extreme for all the shit they were putting out was because they were snitches on the rest of the industry.) That one company has done more to fuck over porn's image in front of the public than any Max Hardcore or Khan Tusion video ever could in a thousand years. I could go on, but why bother? Since then i would still check out the covers of Extreme teen videos, hoping to see the kind of talent i saw the first time, like april flowers and some other cute girls whose names i dont know. But time after time the talent just got worse, with a couple of bright spots. But it seemed like they gave up. The more they tried the worse it got, but i at least figure Extreme porno bootcamp would salvage the company. But since they wont sell it in stores...you cant sell what you dont have. its a shame. Van is one of the best director in the industry and Tiffany one of the hottest startlet so it was the most stupid thing Black could do. I hope Rod Fontano will find a new company for his foot-fetish movies because I love his work, if Extreme is really going down that is. [Link]

He commented that the biggest mistake, from a business standpoint, that Extreme Associates made was when they started that big feud with Adult Video News. He said that feud ended up completely cutting Extreme Associates off from the industry's dominant advertising source. And of course, all businesses have to continually advertise effectively to keep the dollars rolling in. Say what you will about AVN, they do provide wide exposure for advertising purposes. A lot of distributors and store owners read it or at least flip through it to get an idea of what's hot, what's being advertised etc. When they first started out, they had 7 pages of ads at the front of AVN alone, not to mention the ads through the rest of the mag. Cutting themselves off from that exposure didn't help them one bit. [Link]
