Can someone shed some insight on this topic. I was reading on an established Pornstars web site (who is trying to make some new films) that the current Porn Industry doesn't really care for the established Porn Stars. These Pornstars all over the age of 30, won't get work, are prevented from making new films, companies won't distribute their new films and they don't get compensated fairly. That companies only really want 18 to 25 year olds. I'm referring to Pornstars like:
VICKY VETTE JANINE JULIA ANN KYLIE IRELAND KELLY MADISON AMBER LYNN BROOKE HUNTER HARLEY RAINE NINA HARTLEY SAVANNA SAMSON TERI WEIGEL TIFFANY MYNX NICOLE SHERIDAN TAYLOR ST. CLAIRE FELICIA FOX BRITTANY ANDREWS TERA PATRICK CHASEY LAIN LISA ANN
Please any information would be greatly appreciated. There are so many people here at Adult DVD Talk who know how the Porn Industry runs and could me understand.

I think twtwtw62 talks about porn stars over the age of 30 and the companies that only really want 18 to 21 year olds for barely legal movies or 22 to 25 year olds for the movies with MILF in the title.
Panties - maybe not the best thing in the world, but next to it.

The 22-25 yr old MILFs is just the work of lazy pornographers. Same as making Jayna Oso Hispanic. There are plenty of titles hitting the right ages. Kristal Summers is becoming a major star as we speak, and I'm sure that the women on tw's list that are still working, can find work, unless they're pricing themselves out of the market or unwilling to do the things that the younger cupcakes do without hesitation. Some of the women on that list are not only still getting work, but gracing boxcovers. Others have just become tired of the game and have moved on. Others still are more involved in the production end at this point and don't have the time or energy to work full time in front of the camera. Nicole Sheridan works mainly with her husband Voodoo. Janine walked away with an industry dying to exploit her in a second career. There's no question that the industry is youth based, but gimme a break with the conspiracies.
To a certain extent older stars may not get the amount of work that a newer performer receives. However, its not really a conspiracy. Each female performer does have a self life, even Tera Patrick who has made only a handful of movies doesnt sell like a brand new girl.
Each performer has about 150-200 scenes before their careers end. True pornstars can go beyond that number and can keep getting work way beyond their 29th birthday. Others cant even make it to that number.
It really depends on how they spread those 150-200 scenes throughout their career. A girl can do 200 in a year or there are some performers that can make 200 scenes last more than a decade.
Good example is Vanessa Blue - in the biz for 10 years and has done less than 200 scenes.
Overall I tell my female peformer clients to take it easy and have a goal in mind as what they want to make per year and trade scenes for dancing and appearences. And limit the really hardcore for some softer scenes to give their bodies a break once in a while.
Its better to make $100,000 a year for 7 years than make $250,000 for 1-2 years.
I was refering strictly about Pornstars over the age of 30. I read that Teri Weigel wants to start making new films (mini gangbang actually), but hasn't been able to find a company to work with. I found that to be pretty amazing. I have read of other Pornstars that want to continue work also, but have found it difficult with major companies. I was trying to determine if it's the Porn Buying public, the Porn Industry or is it the Pornstar that is making it difficult. I thought Janine was still going to make new films? I enjoy the older Pornstars more then the new ones that have such a short career in the Porn Industry.
Picman your reading comprehension isn't slipping. I just wanted to hear all sides to the over 30 pornstar topic. I'm just amazed that Teri Weigel is having trouble finding a company to work with and that a few of the other ones in the list are finding difficult. Thanks a million for your input.

Michael:
Does the 150-200 have to do with the # of sites/film types.
For example, you get 1 "Teeny Boopers Club", 1 "Barely Legal", 1 "SpunkMouth", 1 "FuckingMachines" etc.
I would assume that parsing out the debauchery - holding out on things like inter-racial and anal - would increase the "first times" later on. Or is it just a flat rate, so when she does it - that's the rate paid.
thats because she is condom only and doesnt live in los angeles. she was supposed to do a movie last month, but it fell through.
if you are an "established" porn star, than many of them start to assume that porn is still the same as ten years ago. now, if a girl has limitations, they simply replace her and move on. your list is very flawed as well....kelly madison only works with her husband, nicole sheridan is retired, janine is retired, vicky vette is out of the country and not coming back i heard, taylor st. claire is gone and has been for a while. amber lynn is condom only and wants ridiculous money for a scene. harley raine doesnt live in los angeles and rarely comes back. tiffany mynx is semi-retired. never heard of felicia fox (which isnt good). savanna, tera, and julia ann continue to work for their respective contracts. nina hartley works as much as she wants to (she travels a lot). brittany andrews is condom only, i just did a feature with chasey lain, who doesnt live in LA. and lisa ann is booked all the damn time, she works a ton or whenever she wants. did i miss anyone?
Thanks Christian X. Do you know why the movie fell through with Teri Weigel? Were you going to work with her. Do you meet all the potential performers before you work together?
yes i was going to work with her, are you kidding me? how hot is teri weigel? bro, i got in this business thinking that the same girls i used to jerk off to when i was in college were still in the business. sadly, this is not the case. but when they resurface, i jump on the chance to work with them! sharon cain, kylie ireland, roxanne hall, chasey lain, tiffany mynx, savanna samson, lisa ann, brittany andrews, cara lott, lisa lipps....i could go on all day. hopefully next year i can work with a few more!
I'm not sure I agree with the idea of a magic number. What I see is that there's an expectation on the part of agents and producers that can be summed up as here today, gone tomorrow. There's nobody counseling performers on managing their porn career because nobody sees being in front of the camera as a career. I'm sure they've seen plenty of flakes and short-timers, but I also think they tend to paint every gal with the same brush.
Given that a new girl can appear in a hundred features in a couple of months, there's a degree of self-fulfilment here - by saturating the market they almost guarantee that their expectations of a short career for a performer will be realized.
Wow, this thread has some interesting comments from people in the industry.
To what extent can that 150-200 scene limit be increased by being careful about not saturating any particular genre and killing their "freshness"? I find that once a girl's scenes start to all seem the same it kills my interest far more than simply her being a familiar face. I can think of one star in particular (I won't name) that has far less than 100 scenes and has been in the industry for barely over two years, that I find very attractive, but wish she would go away to make room for "new" girls. Why? Because all her stuff is simple gonzo, with one or two guys, filmed in a house, fucked on a sofa, doing the same stuff with the same attitude by everyone involved. Why would I want to watch the "same scene" more than a few times within a short period of time?
It seems to me that performers would be wise to rotate through the genres... and there's nothing wrong with revisiting the old ones... it's not the number of scenes, but the saturation. I don't even find Jenna Jameson attractive anymore with her implants and older face, but I would love to see her do a NEW POV scene, or a NEW Up & Cummers, because she hasn't done any of that in a long time.
Is Janine truly retired in the sense of not wanting to do porn anymore, or is she "retired" in the sense of not being agreeable to what she'll get paid compared to what would be required of her?
If you could pick one pornstar to come out of retirement for you to work with, who would it be?
Who would you say is the most successful over-30 pornstar today, in terms of still having a fairly active career (let's say 30+ scenes per year) while also earning respectable money per scene?

There are two "factor" in this equation that I don't think any 18-19-20 year-old thinks about.
1) Career. In fairness, how many young adults consider the long term. I know I didn't. They think this is something they can do today. Tomorrow .... well, that's tomorrow.
2) Saturation. When they are doing the scenes and cashing the checks, I cannot believe any of them are considering that the more work they do, the more exposure they are getting the more likely the market is to grow tired of them.
Girls who are looking to cash in heavily will run the course. Many, even if they still have a market and were very under exposed will leave for their own reasons.
But, I believe PornLaw (Michael) was saying that it is often too late for those who have in porn for 2 years or more AND NOW decide to make a career of it for they may have expended their cachet.
I agree completely. No one, not even agents are really advising their clients/performers properly. But why should they. The less they work the less an agent earns. It really is a conflict of interest even for those agents that really do care.
Even girls that have run the course can have a comeback - a loss of weight, new boobs, new sexual acts, ect. There's always a 2nd chance. The problem is that when you have the triad of exposure - # of scenes, sex acts, age, it becomes really hard for any performer to find work.
Women entering the profession need to know to manage all three and keep themselves in shape, healthy and fresh.
There's a lot of MILF work and there are many stars over the age of 30 that dont do MILF and will still find jobs. All it takes is a realistic view of the industry.
yes i was going to work with her, are you kidding me? how hot is teri weigel? bro ___________________________________________________________
Hey ChristianX, I would like to see you work with Teri Weigel too. Is there still a chance you will be working with her. I assume you got to meet her since you were going to do that movie.
i never got to meet teri.....yet. and of the performers over 30 in the business right now that arent under contract....lisa ann works the most by far and gets the most money. and i dont know about janine, just rumors really.
Yes...just as much as I trust the industry-dependent Porn Media. There can be hidden agendas in the "reporting" on both sides. My experience is the Porn Media always presents the industry in a positive light--and maintains secrecy on stories/facts that could hurt the biz. The mainstream media will go for sensationalism (much of the Sasha Grey coverage), but will also publish positive books/stories on porn people like Jenna Jameson.
In deciding what to belief I try to cut through these obvious bias', and add what I know from talking directly to people in the biz, what I know about human nature, and from following a story from several different sources.
I don't immediately dismiss something about the porn biz just because I read it in the NY Times.

The article was surprisingly non judgemental. They were just commenting on the phenomena of the popularity of older women in modern day porn. I think there are an awful lot of threads in this forum that would support that position.

I have a friend who used to be a huge Teri Weigal fan. He found out that she was working at one of the legal Nevada brothels and arranged to take a vacation to Lake Tahoe/Reno/Carson City. He called the cathouse to find out when Teri was available and went there to have some hot juicy sex with a lady he thought was dynamite. She was available but wanted something like $1000 for some sucking and fucking. He talked her down to half that fee but she didn't put out much effort to pleasure him. He had intercourse with Teri but it was far more disappointing than pleasurable and he sold his collection of Teri Weigal videos. He told me one time when he had a beer or two too many that that encounter with Teri Weigal was really bad. She wouldn't kiss him, hug him, cuddle with him at all, and she wouldn't have oral sex without putting a condom on him first. She didn't allow him to play with her tits or finger her pussy. I guess she sucked him until he was hard, rode him for a little while until he came, then ushered him out. Hopefully she was having a bad day because if she's like that to the rest of her fans she soon won't have many left.

From my recollection of the HBO Cathouse specials, I think that condoms are required by law.
I guess it was $500 for sex and another $500 for enthusiasm.
I just thoroughly enjoyed "Tera Patrick's Fashion Underground" as well as "Julia Ann: Hardcore" . To your point, in certain industries, work is harder and harder to come by the older you get. The entertainment industry in whole is beset by the inequities of agism because the consumer demands fresh, new talent. This is true in the recording industry (music), actors/actresses (with a few exceptions, of course), sports (how many 45- year old pitchers are there compared to 35-year old pitchers? 30-year old?).
There are exceptions of course - Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson in baseball, Morten Andersen in football, etc., but in the whole, as these "players" in the entertainment industry age, there is less work for them in front of the camera. Hollywood actresses have been shouting about this for years. Sure, Maggie Smith gets tons of work, but for every one of her, there are three thoudsand actresses her age looking for work.
I think authors is an area where getting older is a bonus. Hey, it never hurt Judy Blume, did it?
The bottom line is that there comes a point as we age where there are fewer opportunities in just about any profession. BTW, it may not be true, but I thought I saw the fabulous Dianne Carroll as a greeter at Walmart. Hey, work is work.
Wow, can it be true, Teri Weigel is trying to make a new COMEBACK film with a mini-gangbang.
twtwtw62 wrote: "I read that Teri Weigel wants to start making new films (mini gangbang actually), but hasn't been able to find a company to work with."
I know she is over forty, but does she look hot still. In fact she gets better looking as she gets older. I sure hope this film gets made (would be awesome), she has been away too long. ChristianX is this the film you were going to be in or is this something completely different.
I'm over 30... only did 3 projects this year that were "MILF" titles... and when I did, they were with hot boys with big cocks that I rather enjoyed fucking. :) But for the most part, I'm still cast in either Black or Interracial roles where my age has nothing to do with the scene. I agree with Michael, I, like Vanessa, have only performed in about 150-200 scenes in my 13 year career... which means there is always someone left to shoot for. People are shocked when they find out I have never shot for certain, "Black' companies.. that's not my priority. My priority is giving the fans enough to keep them hungry so that I can maintain a public persona, and self market direct to the consumer in other markets, (i.e., my website,) where I actually earn the bulk of the income generated from the product instead of the distributors... Its sad that so many of these young women that enter the business as girls, will make a retarded amount of money and never really be able to enjoy it as women that know what to do with it. Oversaturation is easy to come by... but the agent that has a performer working 7 days straight for 3 months is not going to tell her that this isn't going to last forever. I'm glad to see that there is starting to be people that are helping performers build "careers" instead of just generating paychecks.
ChristianX, did you ever hook up with Teri Weigel? I read she has been doing a lot of scenes recently out in California. Would love to she her do that mini-gangbang.
There should be a law against MILF titles with women younger than 35 (or 40 for that matter). These girls belong in regular porn, a 30s woman who stay in shape does not belong in a "fetish" category.
Thanks for that Info mate. When the porn market changes, most mature pornstars have to expand their Horizons if they want to get regular work. Thats why Kristal Summers dropped her condom Policy long ago,and now she is available for IR. If one continues to limit themselves, then producers will always move to the next available star. These days, there are so many pornstars to choose from and premadonas will struggle in this current climate. Thats why they say, adjust or forget it.
I have a hard on that reaches from here to the Queensland border, for your own safety I hope you live South of me or you could be bludgeoned by its swaying, heaving massiveness, but it'll be okay, I'll be wearing a condom.
Doesn't M.I.L.F. stand for Mother I'd Like to Fuck?? So if she's a mom then wouldn't she qualify even if she's under 30? Titles expressing older women should be 30+ but if it's called M.I.L.F. it's fair game if she's a mom. And I used the older stars in my stuff before and I must say they sold better then with a no name girl on the cover under 25. So I will stick with the numbers as I know what I sold and I have no problem hiring established stars. Look at Wicked they do great and they've got Julia Ann. Also look how well Janine does for DP. Stars are Stars and they aren't made anymore in this industry like they use to be.
I think MILF originated in something that the friends of MILF's son or daughter called her. So that would imply that the she became a mother 10-15 years ago at least.
I don't know so much about this. I don't really get tired of girls unless they constantly do the same stuff. For example, if they just have one act that they do over and over, then it's completely obvious that they're just acting and the more they do it, the more people will see it and realize that.
Sometimes, I'll see a new girl and she just blows me away because her act is fresh and different. They don't look like porn stars and they don't act like porn stars. They don't have that nonchalant "Oh, I'm just sucking 15 cocks. I do this every day" attitude. So I look for more stuff with her in it and she does the same damn thing in every movie.
But if they can keep themselves fresh and exciting, without resorting to all kinds of silly over the top stuff and a ton of plastic surgery, I don't stop watching just because theu get a little older. Hell, I like it! A 32 year old woman can be every bit as sexy and hot as an 18 year old. It's when people let themselves get stuck in a rut and/or don't like doing it anymore that things get old.
These producers are idiots !!!! ( Kylie Ireland is one of the hottest babes !!! )
The "high priced" labels are concentrating on 18-25 year old girls, which is an error.
Many men ( and women too ) like to watch older women in porn, women over 35+. UK is producing porn with women over 40 or 50, and even if these movies are only "action" scenes, most of these women are hotter than bored 18 year old newbies, thinking only on the paycheck.
I have read about some older porn stars, now 40+, wanting to produce some new movies, but they arent getting a chance. I think we should support the companys, who will give them a chance.
In our 40's, we'd rather screw each other than ANY of these 18 year olds, so for our money bring on Raquel Darrian, Candida Royale (still smoking hot in her 50's!), Nina, Ginger Lynn, Dierdre Holland, and Seka. Like fine wine, we'd rather sip from a vintage Cabernet than a bottle of fresh Two Buck Chuck.
Hmmm... seems an opportunity is here for an enterprising company to tackle!

Just on myself:
I work as often as I want to and am way too busy even though I am not on any agent's website. I am in about 15-25 scenes/movies a year, which is fine for me since I have 350+ titles to my name. In additon to working for other companies as talent I run my website, direct for SexZ Pictures and just started my own company, SlutWerkz.
Sounds like whoever wrote that has a bone to pick or an opinion. That's cool. But absolutely not the truth. Some people like the new girls, some like the established stars. That's what is still great about porn - there is something for everyone.
Kylie Ireland, could you get Teri Weigel into one of your new movies. Love to see Teri do a film similar to Kylie's "The Whore Next Door". JEWEL, since your back how about getting Teri into one of your new films, I'm sure you could at least talk to her about it.
