The Private DVD's always feature their trailers in 16:9 letterbox format. It would be great if they did the movie in enhanced 16:9 format.

| dexplorer Member 442 Posts 8/01 | Posted - Oct 18 2001 : 11:43AM Have you done any calculation of how much more width you'll really get from a widescreen as compared to a 36" standard aspect ratio TV running a widescreen DVD title? (Forget comparing the diagonal numbers. That's irrelevant when the aspect ratios are different. What matters is the width. You've either got to measure or dust off some high school algebra.) I know when I was debating whether to get my 36" Panasonic (great really black tube btw) fixed or buy a new TV I considered widescreen. But it didn't seem remotely worth the huge jump in price for only a little more width. (And way LESS height when running material done in the classic 4:3 ratio, which the vast majority of US cable/satellite is still put out at, including movies (unfortunately).) As already mentioned, nearly all porn is at 4:3. (Or even more square, if it's for Euro distribution in the more square PAL standard.) Edited by - dexplorer on Oct 18 2001 [Link] |

Assuming that the the actual picture diagonal is about 1" less than the listed tube diagonal, I get the following, relevant to a widescreen program source (like mainstream DVD's): 36" 4:3 TV has a picture width of 28.0" (top & bottom wasted) That's a bit more difference than I'd thought, but still not all that much. Remember, almost anything over US cable or satellite is actually gonna have a SMALLER picture on the 38" widescreen than on a 36" standard TV. (The sides won't be used.) The limiting factor for that media source and porn will be: 36" 4:3 TV has a picture height of 21.0" (fits)

DVD's I watch. While I'm at it, I was just wondering what adult titles there are for 16:9. I saw in another thread that Adam & Eve's "Sex Spell" is, and so is some title called "Blondes & Brunettes" Is there anything else? I don't see any engine that let's you search by this criteria. Maybe these are the only two titles. . . but i wanted to check if there were any others. . . [Link] |
