It seems to me that at least in some ways are freedom has taken a step back. In the 1970's there were scenes with s/m and penetration, fisting, and etc. Europe seems to be a lot more liberal in what is allowed. [Link] |

When a thread discussed the topic of Rough Sex 1 & 2 having been pulled from distrubtor shelves after release, in an atmosphere of industry and especially distributor and retail concern that it was going too far given the legal climate, voices more in accord with the current limits were heard. See also this thread about a Golden Era classic that underwent some significant censorship cuts in the recent DVD re-issue. And how incongruous I found that in light of some of the new production stuff that's again starting to be released today. Then come back and argue with me. <gg> BTW, BigMike neatly summed up my position as well. The first link above explains just what the current legal situation actually IS pretty well.
