A lot of shocking news lately in the business.

I feel bad for Nacho but especially for the performers he may have infected, lets hope it's not because that would be devastating. I must say though that in hindsight it's not as surprising considering the way he looked, he's been looking unwell lately long before this news imo.

How reliable is ElNacional.cat as a news portal? According to correspondents of another news portal ElEspanol , Nacho's mother denies the claim made by ElNacional.

^ To play devil's advocate, by that line of questioning, how reliable is ElEspanol as a news portal?

A mother's denial doesn't make something true just because she said it. Louise Bundy denied her son murdered dozens of women...

are you suggesting that he s been hiv + for a long time and hiding it by taking this medication that makes the virus almost indectectable?

I'm afraid that this issue will hinder new european porngirls like liya silver, kaisa nord, lana roy, etc. From the industry.

^ not to mention the fact tha he did 2 anal scenes with Tori Black on Tushy in December , and after that Tori did an anal scene with Christian Clay , this could be catastrophic.

It's definitely been a rough start for 2019 in the porn industry.

I don't know if anyone on here was aware of this but the end of last month there was this huge debate (or scare) among many performers on Twitter about HIV+ performers having a chance to work in the industry under the PASS system.

I'm not that knowledgeable about all of that stuff, but I know there were Twitter debates about that issue a few weeks ago.

Now we have breaking news that one of the biggest performers overseas in the last decade+ has been tested positive with HIV, and who knows how long he may have had it.

Here is an article taken from Mike South(not really Mike) blog that can be potentially quite dangerous to the industry in general.

http://mikesouth.com/hiv/informed-consent-is-a-must-nothing-else-will-do-because-someone-in-our-industry-is-hiv-35723/

Now granted many may argue that Mike's blog can offer dubious views on various subjects but I recommend that you read the source for the controversy. That has the potential to kill production in the US and Overseas for many months if this is proven to be true.

I have my doubts , even if he did this, he would have infected his co-workers who would have known as soon as they tested or possibly his co-workers coworkers in other scenes.
Is there really a chance that an HIV outbreak could go undectected that much time?

I really hope that this isn't why Nacho went condom only for a stretch some years back. If so, that would mean he's had HIV for years.

^^It's crucial here if he did this knowingly. If he knew and hid it and performed with people anyway he should face serious jail time wether he has infected people or not.

"Would have" implies a certainty, "could have infected his co-workers" is more accurate, assuming the rumour is true. Antiretroviral medication can reduce the viral load of HIV to such a low amount that depending on the strain, there's less than a 1% chance of transmission to another person. That's the "rationale" behind the misguided PASS system that advocates want to push into the industry.

Not necessarily. According to NIH, undetectable = untransmittable. This theory was very controversial when first proposed in 2008, but we now have a decade of scientific evidence that supports it.

^Unless I'm not understanding the math then if I look at that 1% number. Then there is 1 chance out of 100 that a person who has sex with someone who has the HIV virus but a low viral load could get infected with the virus.

Here is what Pierre Woodman is saying about this story:

"I brought him myself to the labor in August 2018 and I have in my home his original blood test, so for sure he was never infected by HIV before now.

He also was with me in 2011 in L-A and did a DNA test there with me, so all those gossips are just non-sens !!!

Nacho knows from who he got this infection and it's related to his personal life, not to porn industry. Actually all 9 girls having worked with him, are in DNA test situation now and we will know next week if anyone more is supposed be infected or not but I'm ready to bet no one will be ..."

Wow, look at the reactions to some European porn actresses and an agency from Europe too. This is a huge blow but the safety of their lives and others must come first.

This is where people not really understanding what statistics mean comes into play. What that percentage technically means isn't that if someone has sex with 100 women, one of them is likely to get infected.

What it means is that if that person were to have sex with 70 women, there's about a 50% chance none of them were infected. Also, because he said less than 1%, the actual percentage is important. If it's .5%, the that number is about 135 women. If it's .1%, that number is around 690 women.

If he continued performing with knowingly he had the virus, then I have no sympathy for him. He performed in a few great Elegant Angel movies back in the day but it's unacceptable.

I disagree , given his job I'd say it's almost a miracle if no one have been infected. All studies are made over regular people with a regular sex life , even the sexual life of the most promiscuous of them pales in comparison to that of sexual worker , furthermore he has sex with co-workers who are in fact as promiscuous as he is and they also have sex with people among the most promiscuous on Earth.

They say the risk of infection is 1% according to some studies , In my view it's too high already a regular couple with one of them infected having sex every three days would be at risk within a year or within two years with just a sexual encounter per week , multiply the odds as the years pass

How long do you think it takes for a sexual worker to reach the number of 100 intercourses , should I also have to mentions that regular sex doesn't last as long as a porn scene? The olonger the body fluids stay in contact the higher the risk , anal sex is riskier than vaginal

Multiply the odds for every new performer carrying the virus even though not yet infected , for example a performer who does two scenes that day or a female performing group sex right after him

so yes I'd stay with would

also I understand you are an Italian speaker then:
Avrebbe dovuto = Would Have
Avrebbe potuto = Could Have

not very different in my view , Could Have I'd use when the danger is yet to come and is still potential = potrebbe or
the danger is over and in the past but didn't occur = avrebbe potuto

Would have it's a potential who didn't occur yet or that should have but didn't until we find out that it actually did = avrebbe dovuto

I didn't use should even though could have been the better choice because it implies that the danger didn show and will not do = sarebbe dovuto

so again I'd stay with would

We're not over yet

^ I do agree that it's odd how he hasn't apparently infected anyone but probability doesn't work exactly as you laid it out. With a 1% chance of an result occurring, it doesn't mean that at the 99th instance of doing something where such a result doesn't happen, the 100th is guaranteed to give that result. As unlikely as it is, probability can permit the first 9,901 first times you do x without y occurring then the remaining 100 of those 10,000 instances of x being done with y occurring from 1 to 99 times - that still gives you less than a 1% chance. You can go way beyond 10,000 for the sake of argument and legitimately get less than a 1% chance.

I don't recall where I said I speak Italian. I do not. A most odd "understanding" you've gathered.

^^I would add to your post that the kind of sex performers have on porn set is often way more intense than what they have in their personal life so that is bound to increase the possibility of transmission.

I agree , especially with Nacho whose style is usually rougher than most
you're right I've mistaken you for angryDragon who does speak Italian like in here

I'm sorry

anyway you have to multiply the chances for every performer he's been with , even if HIS odds are the way you say it's very unlikely that every single performer he's been with would share the same luck he had , even though not infected his working partners did come in contact with the virus, plus for HIV virus a vagina is a more friendly environment than a dick and this would increase the risk even further

You laymen (pun intended) are focusing on and misapplying that (less than) 1% figure as random probability without understanding what it accounts for.
The theory is not undetectable is 99% untransmittable. It's U=U. The times when transmission occurred was when the therapy was ineffective, meaning that the viral load wasn't undetectable!

I don't get the pun there but it's okay.

I think I understand the 1% , I also understand the very different scale of intercourses involved , in case of porn performers it's massive, also I understand the different scale of the intercourse itself , I don't think those who partecipated in the study fucked as long as performers do in a porn shoot hence a different level of exposure , but it's usually rougher in the case of Vidal a lot rougher even by porn standards.

Was there in such study any direct exposure to blood from scratches?

Also I'm aware that risk of 1% also mean no risk at 99% , still there's 1% of risk, I don't get the circling over the figures

No, you don't get it. Context matters. You are misapplying the 1% as random probability when it's not. In less than 1% of the heterosexual couples, the HIV positive person taking their drugs infected their partner in the RELATIONSHIP, not in any given single sex act. These transmissions were attributed to when the therapy was not working where viral loads are still detectable. These findings were confirmed in separate studies involving male-male couples.

My point is someone who is HIV+, got treated, and maintained the treatment so they test negative can somehow manage to not infect others.

Exactly context matters , sex in a relationship is not the same as in a porn set for either lasting or roughness nor frequency , I'm not saying he should infect anybody , I get it's taking it between the very same partners having sex over and over adding risk each time and not some random sex with a performer occurring once or maybe twice a year between them. still the reception to the virus varies.

anyway if he really knew of the virus just one month ago there's still a window between when he actually got infected and when he begun his treatment, providing the treatment really is working

I'm still confused on the match so let me ask you a couple of question.

1-Are you saying that a person infected with the HIV virus but taking anti-viral drugs exactly as prescribed has less than 1% chance of transmitting the disease to another person? I'm assuming that if condoms are used than that number is even lower.

2-If the answer to "1" is yes then should that person still tell every one of his sexual partner prior to having sex with them that he has HIV but is unlikely to infect them?

3-If the answer to "1" is yes and it involves a performer than should he/she be automatically banned from performing with any uninfected performers?

Yes, but less than 1% is still risk. Treatment does not always work or people fuck up.

NIH is saying that if treatment works and makes the viral load undetectable, then there's effectively no chance of transmission. Zero. I don't know whether that's true because there's other factors like if you have a compromised immune system due to another disease like hepatitis or lymphoma. I don't know how that works or if that's been studied.

Even though those questions are irrelevant to this line of discussion of whether someone who is indeed HIV positive could somehow escape infecting others for years, I believe in 2 as part of informed consent. As for 3, I don't believe in outright bans over informed consent.

Was it ever discussed why he wore condoms for awhile during his scenes? This is indeed crazy and I really hope for the female performers sake, that this isn't a Marc Wallace 2.0 situation.

Remember folks we still don't know a lot of details here.

Some are saying he had HIV for years, some are saying it's been 1 month.

We don't know yet if Nacho knowingly neglected to disclose his HIV status to any other performers. In fact, do we even know for sure he worked with any other performers after contracting HIV?

I'm hearing different things on when exactly he tested positive and when he shot his last scene before the result. The timelines are closing in on eachother, it's just a matter of time before the truth is out. In any event Vidal better have proof that he didn't know he was infected untill the confirmation and that he quit performing immediately.

That , one cannot know when one was infected.. until it shows up itself... It may lay dormant for more than 10 yrs... So , we cannot conclude... Who all were infected by him, and when was he infected... End of story..

^ End of story? Perhaps you shouldn't blindly quote something without reading it properly before making such a clumsy decree?

Clearly you have misunderstood the term "dormant". In this context, it means that an HIV+ person's immune system hasn't been compromised by the virus where it can take as long as 10 years for this process to happen. This absolutely does not mean you can't test for it as antibodies are detectable by 3-6 months after contracting the virus even if the person isn't manifesting any symptoms.
