Hi guys, not sure if this is exactly the right forum to ask this, but since it's a "buying dvds question" I decided to post it here..

Since the recent slight redesign of ADT, the ability to go straight to the Comparison Cart from the sidebar menu has been removed and now goes through the "price search" link.

It's just a small matter, but I was wondering if a link could be re-placed there to allow us to go straight to viewing the cart as a one-click from any of the ADT pages. I ask because I find the cart to be the part of ADT I use the most, whether it's adding new stuff or removing things I find through reviews or whatnot aren't so hot as well as of course, ordering more dvds (and removing them when they arrive safely).

I find that in the week or so before I place an order I use it a LOT, as I go through titles, check who has stock of what, count my money and the like...

thanks,

scipio

scipio - thanks for speaking up - I'll add it back. My fault - Drew wanted to keep it, but I didn't know if anyone was using it without adding stuff to their cart first.

Steph & Drew:

Another nice addition would be for the title in the Comparison Cart to remain a live hyperlink so that we could do a real quick price comparison on an individual item in the list.

Steph ~ Thanks for re-adding the link there. I'll let you off this time because of the blue tractor. ;)

I actually use it as a list of titles I'm looking at buying, a large shopping list if you will, with additions and subtractions. That way I don't need a pen-and-paper list, and I can access it without a problem (and order) from any of my computers.

When it's time to actually place the order, I transfer the cart, cull whats not in stock, then cull again down to my shopping budget of the day.

thanks again for re-adding it,

cheers,

scipio

I might have assumed incorrectly. Which page would the link be on: view_basket.asp or basket_compare.asp? If it's the basket_compare.asp page would the link go to our price search page or to the product details page at the respective store? It's an easy thing to do either way.

What I had in mind was being able to click on a single title from the (too) many displayed in my cart on the view_basket.asp page such that the various online stores and the prices they offer would be displayed.

Specifically, if American Way, The - Rad Video were in my Comparison Cart (actually, it is, along with some two dozen other titles), I would like to be able to click on its title and get this display:

American Way, The - Rad Video

And because the cover image, cast & a few details about the title are displayed, it serves to remind me as to why I added that particular title to my cart in the first place.

The only problem I see with the Comparison Cart (which is WONDERFUL!) is that it's time consuming to juggle the "zeros" and "ones" in order to put together an order for a specific store that optimizes the combination of listed prices and discounts from the long list of titles which interest me.

As an aside, on the basket_compare.asp page, it would be nice if the lowest price for individual titles were marked in some way, e.g., the title in italics or a bold "cents" mark beside the title, also making it easier for us to back up and juggle titles to get the best deals. Yes, I can scan down the list and see that store "1" offers the best deal for the total order, but if title "C" is $5 less expensive at store "4" then it makes sense to choose a different title to add to the store "1" order - does that make sense?

Actually, I do have an additional request - it isn't so much a price search tool as an additional title search tool.

How about the ability to store an actors list which could be used as an additional search tool? This might be more useful for gay media than for straight, but who knows?

I envision it working something like the shopping cart in that actors could be added, activated (qty=1), deactivated (qty=0) or deleted. Double-clicking on an individual actor's name would bring up a search results list of all the DVD titles in which that individual actor appeared. Running a search for the entire list would bring up a search results list of all DVD titles in which ANY of the active (i.e., qty=1) actors appeared - basically, an OR search of the actors list against the master cast list database table.
