A couple of days ago it wobbled and creaked when I opened and closed the case, then I picked it up and there were a couple of tiny black plastic bits left behind on the counter. The hinge is supposed to look like this:  But instead it can open up into halves, like this:  And the adjacent back is splitting from the monitor, about an inch up the side and four inches along the bottom:  I haven't closed the laptop in two days, since it did this. It works fine. Will the crack spread and the computer stop working? Is it warped? Can a computer guy snap it back in position? What? [Link] |

It is a fairly common problem with certain plastics. If you just leave the case open so as to stop stressing the joint, and keep it out of the sun your computer will probably be fine. [Link] |
