It's that this thread strongly resembles one that was made several months ago. :) It was a very good thread and had valuable info..I suggest doing a search. It's worth it. I learned through that thread that now condoms in porn is so acceptable for me. It's very vital and important I find considering AIDS is at a all time high and so are other sexual diseases. The performance of the penis with it's transparent raincoat on does a good penetrating performance for me. |

Here's a few that I found with a quick search. I'm sure there are a few others too. Article on Empire from Diesel hope that helps. Edited by - Drew Black on Jun 10 2001 |

| Whiplash the suave incubus Member 112 Posts 6/01 | What will come next? Rubber sucking or safe facials? Oh Christ! Then we can really look back wistfully to a golden age of porn never to come back. |
| HoustonDon Member Houston 561 Posts 11/99 | Whiplash, current tests are not 100% effective and your $25 doesn't give you any special rights to force people to endanger their lives. I see where you're coming from though and a lot of people agree with your general sentiments. |
| joeblow69 Member 946 Posts 2/00 | Seriously, though, pornstars are people too, and I would hope that you can understand that their safety has to come before your enjoyment. On a slightly different tangent, if a porn star does get HIV, who pays for all the meds and treatment? Do porn companies offer medical benefits? If not, porn stars would be absolutely crazy not to use condoms. |
| Whiplash the suave incubus Member 112 Posts 6/01 | JoeBlow69, as I’m not a Roman emperor during the decadence in which case I would have bluntly stated that my enjoyment rules the world I have to admit that, yeah, that’s it…I agree. |
| Speelie Senior Member Fort Collins, CO 1191 Posts 5/01 | No, we don't. They are performers, putting on a display for us, not members of the public who just happen to let us watch as they engage in sexual activity. I'm not opposed to any performer, on an individual basis, insisting upon condom use for a particular scene, but I want the majority of porn that I watch (which is Evil Angel, Ana/Diabolic, and Private) to remain condom free. After seeing Daniella Rush get anally fisted, and get and give GS, it is almost laughable to see a scene with her that includes condoms. Again, these are performers, and there are risks, just as there for playing sports (how many American football players get injured every season?) or being a stuntperson (who creates a fantasy for the viewer, as does the sex perfomer). The answer is for the performers to stop fooling around outside the industry. This is one reason why the same men appear in every gonzo and European flick, they can be depended upon both to get wood and to keep themselves safe. And the new women coming into the industry, whether from Budapest or exotic Baker, CA, must be carefully tested. This does seem to be happening, and now that DickO'Death Wallice has shown the need for accurate checking, the problem has been essentially solved. |

| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | OK, so Marc was caught. But WAY too late. And there have been a few cases of guys forging their HIV tests to be able to work. Luckily, they were negative anyway, but it's not that hard to fake a xerox copy of a form. HIV isn't the only thing to worry about. Right now, in the States, the performers only have to get tested for HIV. As opposed to most of Europe where they also get tested for a couple other STD's. Herpes and Hepatitis are really common. As joe said, other people who take risks in their careers often choose to take measures to limit the effect of those risks. And to answer your question, whether it's hiv, or a case of gonorrhea, there is no such thing as workman's compensation in porn. The performers better have had health insurance, because they have to pay all the costs. (As do I.) I understand that porn is suppossed to be fantasy. In Hollywood, many companies have gone the way of special effects so that stuntmen don't have to do quite as dangerous stunts. Until it's possible to make the condom disappear through the magic of editing, I for one will look past the condom and pay attention to the emotion of someone getting fucked really hard. |
| Reason Member 135 Posts 1/00 | About Marc Wallice, there's always Luke Ford's feature. I don't know, there is something troubling in the vehemence of the rants against condoms in porn, and the tone (not as overt here as in some discussions on RAME). Perhaps there is an atmosphere of spite or resentment towards porn performers among a sizeable segment of the people who like to watch the stuff. Edited by - Reason on Jun 10 2001 |
| -lunacy- Senior Member 1081 Posts 4/00 | Although actors may be there for our entertainment they are human beings , and equating them to professional athletes really belittles the fact that AIDS is about dying, it's not a broken limb that will heal. Edited by - -lunacy- on Jun 10 2001 |
| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | I think that the analogy of protective equipment in sports is a perfect one. They used to use leather helmets in football. Today, if someone decided to wear one of those helmets in a game, they would lock him up for being insane. As far as porn is concerned, I know that the fact that some people have died or have gotten sick in order to entertain me certainly makes watching it less enjoyable. If an epidemic should break out on a large scale, I'm not sure whether I would be able to continue to be a fan. I agree with Tricia that the decision to use a condom or not should be the choice of the performers. Unfortunately, from what I have read many of the companies that have this as their "official" policy, still put pressure on the performers to "choose" to work condom free. |
| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | The companies who allow the girl to choose typically ask "are you condom-optional?" I asked Stryc-9 (Cherry) this question last week, and she said she is now condom only. Good for her. Unfortunately, I had to say no to hiring her for the scene because it was a scene between a married couple. But the first scene that I shoot that isn't supposed to be a husband and wife, I'll be calling her back. |

| HoustonDon Member Houston 561 Posts 11/99 | Mainstream actors Vs Porn stars: Tricia and Bill are correct. As soon as some of you demand that hollywood actors perform all their own stunts or you'll refuse to buy their movies too, they are professionals after all, I'll see the evenhanded way you are looking at things. All of you are right in the sense that only you know what you like. I, for one, care about people. I don't "have to care or think about" people, I do because it's part of who I am. I, for one, acknowledge that AIDS and various other STD's are incurable at this time. Thousands of people are dead because of them-many more to follow. If some starlette doesn't care about her safety, that's fine but I'm not going to pretend that companies don't pressure performers, given some of the comments here and elsewhere, to go bareback. Spend your money as you see fit. Just don't act all indignent when some people care about the performers once in awhile. |

| Black Coffee Member 128 Posts 3/01 | If people don't buy films that feature condom use, do you really think the companies will keep this as their policy? If you don't like condom use, don't buy the film - it's really that simple. This is the only way to enact change. Porn is a business above all else. A producer's number one concern is the bottom line. If their is no money, there is no producer. Of course there are exceptions (some producers may really care more about performers) but will the exceptions be working if they don't bring in any money? I'm not trying to start a revolution here; I'm just pointing out to those who want condom free porn need to act. If you buy porn with condoms, the companies will keep making it. If you'll eat it, they'll feed you. If you don't like it - don't eat it! |
| Janitor Retired Porno movies, sexy videos, xxx. Adult DVD Talk at your service. 6409 Posts 11/99 | I'm sure I've said it before, but I think condoms can be used more erotically than they currently are in adult movies. There are plenty of women who know how to put a condom on a guy - it can be an erotic moment rather than an awkward one. That said I think porn can be a mix of real life couples who don't need to wear condoms, performers who have to for their safety, and perhaps a 'clean pool' of performers who take the extra step when it comes to testing (for all STDs) and not sleeping around outside of porn. I don't understand why these tests are photocopies and not stamped or notarized or something. The clean pool sounds like an unrealistic concept, but there are performers that have been in the industry a long time - these are the candidates for a in-depth screening process - some of them are even in monogamous relationships outside of work. |
