I believe the up and coming outnumbered 3 moive, will be
a very expensive production. due to it being shot in porn
valley and all that talent on show. it got me thinking. ( yes thats a rare thing ) what is the most costiest film ever made ? and how many dvd`s would say a major film maker have to sell to break even on a huge budget film ?

are these a one off.......or more films will be made like this in the future ?

I think Pierre Woodman's feature films for either Private or Hustler have the biggest budget. he's shot many films in exotic locations with big casts and lavish customs.

They say this new Pirates movie by Digital Playground and Adam & Eve is the most expensive feature to date.

I thought it was The Fashionistas.

The Pyramid trilogy looked pretty expensive though.

My guess would be Caligula. I'm pretty sure it was the most expensive when it came out, but that was years ago.

Some of the classic Bridgette Lahaie movies , or possible Behind The Green Door , or other classic American porn features . Modern features , including Fashionistas and Woodman flicks , look cheep and nasty in comparison .

I figure the costliest movie was either Max's or Seymour's. The ones that landed them in court.

The most expensive movie made in recent times is The Fashionistas. I have no idea what EA's markup is so I can't tell you how many units they'd have to move before it makes a profit.

I think "Bella Loves Jenna" was pretty expensive. I also think "Janine Loves Jenna" will be expensive as well, I heard there was a rain scene in it...might be using artificial rain I dunno?

I have no clue, but that's what I would have said out of the blue. Looks quite expensive, and like a must-have, though I think Kinzie Kenner should be in it. Well, maybe there will be a sequel, and until then I will make sure they can't look past her.

Speculation and not fact, but I believe Pirates (Digital Playground) will be the most expensive. Then...

is pirates as good as waterworld? if i ran a mainstream or porn studio, sirens would go off in my head if someone tried to make a movie that had anything to do with the sea and a large budget-it means the dude making it's got such a bloated ego and growing disjoint with reality he's going to declare bankruptcy, join the scientoligists, or retreat into howard hughes-style demented seclusion over the failure of his aquatic masterpiece.

if it's got mechanical sharks, different ballgame. the world can never have too many mechanical sharks

It could hardly be any worse.

And shame on you for jinxing it by naming it in the same sentence as that Costner abomination.

I'd much rather think happy thoughts and compare it to Pirates of the Caribbean.
They've got a couple of teasers up at www.piratesxxx.com, BTW. No full blown trailer yet.

It is most definitely supposed to be compared with Pirates of the Caribbean. The picture in the link reminded me of that movie immediately. And if you look at the sabre and the gun, it seems quite clear that this can't be pure coincidence:

Here's hope that the story will be fun, maybe even a great parody. And let's hope for strokeable sex scenes, of course.

At the time it was made, Dreamquest the most expensive - at least, that's what I heard.

1001 EROTIC NIGHTS w/Annette Haven. This from 1981 when they still produced flicks for theatrical release rather than video. 1978's SEX WORLD might be up there too.

When I talked to Jim Holiday once about 2 1/2 years ago, he told me that it at one point was Conquest.
Then Fashionistas.
Then Millionaire from Private was said to cost more, but that was released in 2 parts (other than the limited release set), so it depends on how you look at it. If you look at how much one release cost, then I guess Fashionistas might be considered to cost more.

Pirates does indeed look like it has a big budget, but with it being shot on HD instead of film, they're able to save a lot of money that would have been spent on film stock and processing. However, Digital Playground and Adam & Eve spend a LOT of money on advertising and marketing, so it remains to be seen what the final total cost of the movie will be.

Oh - and for Hardware and anyone else who is curious, Fashionistas broke even after less than 2 years, a feat that Evil Angel is very proud of considering that we did without ANY cable sales to preserve the integrity of the movie and not have to make it a "soft" acceptable version.

Actually, the question I was responding to was how many units, not how long. How soon Fashionistas broke even is certainly an accomplishment worth making note of, though, and further proof that quality will be rewarded in the marketplace.

Yeah, Caligula came out in 1980, but they dished out alot of money on advertising and money to pay for Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, and Peter O'Toole.

Even if advertising is not part of production, it was still expensive to make.

Word I get is that Pirates is probably the most expensive ever, but it looks well worth it. Another that probably cost a bunch was Vivid's new version of The Devil in Miss Jones. Private also makes lots of expensive movies.
