I would like to see more of this style in the intros to hardcore scenes - Wicked does some good "pretty girl" intros in their vignette movies, but I would like to see more of this in the various gonzo teen lines.

If they get naked, and a lot do, the shots are wider, so you see the whole body and her curves. It's not about open leg, gynecological shots. So it's not even softcore. With the really young girls (under 18), it's tamer than Maxim, etc. Even the lad mags have more spread legged shots than some of these girls. Not to say they don't do open leg shots, just that it's not the emphasis. Reon Kaneda is probably the best-known. I'll bet a lot of you have seen this animated image in people's avatars or sigs: image. I don't think Maxim, etc, are a good analogy because those rags totally cater to the short attention span. They rarely have more than 8 pictures of the girl. Gravure girls tend to do glossy photobooks with 50-80 pages of pictures, as well as videos that feature them prancing around a beach, a resort, the woods, whatever. The camera tends to scroll all over the girl and they play to it appropriately. Some times, they do interviews to break up the segments, which gives you a little insight into the girl, which isn't always a good idea. Yuko Ogura may be adorable but she's as dumb as Jessica Simpson. The thing is, there's a fundamental difference in how their babes are portrayed vs. the US. With gravure and even JAV (porn), the girls are portrayed as sweet and innocent. In the US, they play up the sexual element to varying degrees, from sexually aggressive to outright slutty, and we're pretty conditioned to it by now. When I look at how Marie Luv refers to herself here, I can't help but wonder if she really thinks of herself that way, or if she does it because that's what you guys want to hear. :) So I'm not sure American guys will be interested in watching a girl running around on a beach giggling and splashing water at the camera, or rolling around on a bed while playing with the sheets to cover strategic parts. It would make for a nice change of pace from the common how-slutty-can-you-be style of American porn. [Link] |

As far as softcore teasing style stuff I do like the Real Adventures stuff, but that is not at all what you are talking about. They focus on public nudity not vaguely arty frolicking. [Link] |

Playmates are ridiculously airbrushed, all have fake boobs, all shaved pussies. It's predictable and boring. It also has no real angle. They don't push the innocence like the gravure girls but they can't push the sexual aspect too far either. Maxim could do it, but I get the feeling they would take a low-brow approach, too. A shame. There is a clear appeal to these gravure girls. Best option at this point would be some US company importing their stuff and subtitling/translating everything.
