Is this a contradiction in terms? Maybe, but maybe not. If we see a well scripted and acted movie, that shows clear erotica between couples, then I see no reason why we can't have "nastier" sex acts. So long as they're done in such a way as to not just be a showcase of the action itself, but a natural expression of what the partners are enjoying.

My next question, of course, is can anybody give an example of any erotica with such "nastier" scenes? I don't know if such a movie exists, but my first thought would be something along the lines of an adult version of Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, which could include things like DP. (Since they all end up in bed together, such group situations would be reasonable. Ideally with some bi or MM bits also.) There could also be other acts that are brought up in the course of discussion and tried out in the course of their "experimentation".

Actually, now that I think of this, that kind of plot would be a good vehicle for YogaGrrl's script. Or, if she doesn't do it, maybe it would be a good basis for one of my own (if I ever actually do something like that).

Oh, and please don't mention The Fashionistas as an example of an extreme couple's movie.

I'm all for nastier sex acts in couples porn. Personally I don't think it is a conradiction in terms. To some extent I think that is what I'm looking for. One of the reasons I think I'm so drawn to Adamo's work is because he showcases a lot of hasrdcore sexual action in a "mature " way if you will. What i'm getting at is that I like a lot of the nastier sex out there in the porn world, but I'm not such a big fan of the way a lot of it is presented. For example I love watching a georgeous starlet deepthought some guys rod, but I don't enjoy watching some guy trying to make her choke to death on it.

I think some nasty nasty sex in the right context can make for some excellent couples viewing.

For example I might suggest that there are more than a few adventurous couples that would enjoy a good Tanya Hyde flick.

I own Hell, Whores and High Heels. But while I'd recommend it as very well done nastier sex, I really don't think I'd consider it a couples movie because it has no real plot or dialogue. It doesn't present "sex in the context of the daily life of a couple / people". In other words, it doesn't come across as being a representation of what could happen in the real world. Whereas a movie such as Taboo certainly does. So, while couples may enjoy it (couples could enjoy gonzo too...) I don't really think that it would qualify as a "couples movie" - whatever nebulous definition of that we can't seem to define but still have a general idea about.

But - let's consider Taboo for a minute. Pretend that instead of the "standard" orgy scene that Kay Parker goes to, she goes to a BDSM dungeon instead. We see all of the same characters, with all of the same story lines and personal interactions, except that we throw in something a bit different in one scene.

Personally, I'd still think of that changed version of Taboo as a couples movie. It all comes down to context and how the sex is presented. In almost every "nasty" movie it shows signs of abuse and (almost always) women not enjoying themselves but being forced into it. There's no light hearted banter or laughter, before, after, or during, to indicate that it's just another form of affection and sexual expression between two people. (Of course, there's also no getting to know these people and their lives either.)
