Why are "cum kisses" between 2 girls almost always cut so short by most porn makers ? They either fade out too quickly or they are just simply cut dead after only a few measley seconds. What the fuck is the deal with stills? Is it just me, or are stills just about the most overrated thing in porn. Of the hundreds of DVDs I've watched, it's a small handful where I've actually thought the stills were worth looking at more than once. I know the director has to get boxcover shots, but cutting away after a facial just to get stills is depriving the viewer of all that after-shot action - the girl's reactions as the cum slowly runs down her face, starts dribbling (or even better, stringing!) off her nose, face, hair, eyelashes (YES!), wherever. I can understand what you're saying ...but it's not necessarily a question of overdoing it , it's being terribly "underdone". That's the problem. Besides , if so many movies can contain 2 hours of ass plowing , isn't that being overdone ? To me it is , but to many others it's not. As you already guessed, the stills are important to get photos for the boxcover, which sell the movie to people not looking for a particular studio, director or starlet. Those messy facial stills are eyecatching and hot! Also, production stills are used for general promotion and website content.
However, I do happen to agree with you that it *is* desirable to let the camera linger on cum glazed faces more. I always liked it when Private shot their movies in this style back in the 90's and the girls made good eye contact with the camera.
I don't have a good solution however on how to get both. If the video shooter is not the photographer, the still guy can take photos while the video camera continues to roll, but he wouldn't have as much freedom of movement and there's the issue of using a flash. The lights may be bright enough to get away without one, but at a higher ISO setting and more risk of camera shake. If videos viewers didn't mind the flash going off, it would be easier to get. I'm not sure it people would complain about this or not. Another alternative is to let the video camera roll and fake the cum to some degree on stills. If the video shooter is the same as the still photographer, the problem is more challenging.
Also, some girls may not really like the cum on thier faces and they may try to make a quick exit. I imagine, the best thing to do is discuss the issue with them expressly before shooting so they know what footage is desired. I'll try to keep these issues in mind!
Kaylan & Buk21 ... IMHO, I think there are some starlets in the USA who are up for JAV style footage. A lot of them are open to anything and really want to help directors get the footage they desire. So long as it was explained to them in advance, I don't see a problem in most cases. On the other hand, there may be some female talent who are not interested in anything except a "routine" 3 hour gonzo shoot that requires very little of them. I imagine it is exactly the same for porn producers in Japan.

As long as it's not ridiculously intrusive, the flash during the actual scene is a reasonable thing to deal with from my perspective. American Bukkake, and I think Gag Factor, both do this. Rather than have a break in the action, they just shoot stills as it happens, attempting to catch the best cumshots. Not sure how people would react if this technique was used more.
