I don't see what the issue is with stroking for the dead. If anything it's paying homage to the departed.
You know how some people will pour out liquor for the dead homies? Well, this is the same, except you bust a nut for the dead pornstars. It's about the most honest way someone who has never really met a person working in porn can mourn them.

I can't understand why some people think this thread is ridiculous. As porn has built up 40 years of continuous presence by now, and far longer if you count the loops, it is inevitable that some of those people are no longer with us. It's valid to wonder how people deal with watching those performers have sex. Vintage fans such as myself deal with this all the time. And the way to do so in my opinion is to remember that what you consume in porn is an illusion. It's a fantasy world where everyone is ever nubile, ever willing, never have headaches or periods, where arseholes are always clean and nobody can ever get pregnant by mistake or contract STDs. And, to bring it on-topic, where *nobody ever gets old*. They're always the same age, every time you watch the video.
There are certainly some more poignant moments when I watch dead stars. Suicides are one, particularly when the on-screen persona is happy and outgoing. Megan Leigh is a perfect example of this - a girl I was a huge fan of in her lifetime for her energetic fun personality as much as her cute, pert looks. Ever since she put an end to her life, her work (which I do rewatch, since she's such a fave) always induces a touch of melancholia to me. The other category are performers who are known to have contracted a serious STD. In their case I simply can't watch them have unprotected sex. I'm in favour of a mandatory condom policy in porn in general, and watching such people, even if they didn't actually die of the disease, is a no-go: I just get angry at the industry and those fans who demand that people take a chance with their health and life for their own entertainment.

Yeah. I think probably a lot of them would be honored to at least know they accomplished something that would be here long after they're gone. A lot of people wish for immortality and never even come close. The irony is that porn stars might be closer than 90% of everyone else.

I don't mind watching. But, I do feel badly for the families not receiving any royalties from the use of the likeness of their deceased loved-ones. The families of Shauna Grant, John Holmes, and other deceased porn stars should benefit from the continued interest and popularity of their departed the same way Bogart, Monroe, and Elvis' families benefit.

I used to like a lot Megan Leigh, especially her performance in LOose Ends 6 with Tom Byron and Wallice. Once I heard she had died, I was unable to watch the scene the same way and it did not please me anymore.

In my mind there's a huge difference between watching a movie with a dead actor and watching a movie where you're your getting aroused (or trying to) for a dead person. With many porn viewers part of the fantasy is that they're imagining they're with that person doing things to them. When that person is fantasizing that they are doing sexual things to a pornstar and remembers or realizes that person is dead it can turn into a creepy thing. Personally i can watch dead male performers with no problem because I'm not fantasizing about them but with deceased female performers it's a totally different thing.
There's no right or wrong to whichever side a person falls under. If fantasizing and getting aroused over the dead doesn't bother you, more power to you. But it's not ridiculous that some people have issues with it.

^ That's ridiculous to say "if fantasizing and getting aroused over the dead doesn't bother you..." in that paragraph.
The very reason that people are OK with watching scenes with performers who have passed on is that they're not fantasizing over the dead, they're fantasizing over the living, breathing performer in that scene.
Yes, in real life she has passed. But she also probably doesn't love anal like she claims, she's probably not enamored with pizza boys, and she just might not be a virgin either.
People who are OK with watching a performer who has passed have separated any reality at all from the scene they're watching. Now, some people don't do that. And that's fine too. Some people want it to be as real as possible, and that might be reflected in the kind of porn they watch, not just in making sure the performer is alive. But to say that someone is "fantasizing over the dead" because they've watched a flick with a performer who has passed away is unfair and paints them with a very, very tainted brush.

And for some people that's a legit reason. But for others they think beyond that scene and realizing that they're the person they're imagining doing things to has passed on and it seems creepy or off putting.
LOL! But she isn't dead. Role-playing, acting or doing something for a buck is one thing but being dead is a whole other thing. I see a HUUUUGE gap between them.
I didn't mean it in quite that way. I didn't mean it to say to say "fantasizing over the dead" in that they specifically have a fantasy to do so but more like "Fantasizing over someone who happens to be dead" in the fact that it doesn't bother them.
We both agree there's no right or wrong to a person's feelings toward this. I just wanted to point out to those who were being dismissive about those who felt differently that they have legit reasons behind their opinions/feelings on the subject.

Some time ago I liked to watch something of Sheridan from Czech... I didn't know she was dead ...
"December 20, right after party shoot, only twenty years old model Sheridan died tragically in a car accident on D1 Czech national freeway on the way home."
I think I was sick a week...
I couldn't now watch movies with her participation(: She had something in her eyes - you guys look into her eyes! RIP

This topic isn't really that much different than the one that took place in the now locked Krista Rose thread. Some posters said they couldn't/wouldn't watch any Krista scenes because of things she said that they didn't like while others said they don't care what she says in her personal life as long as she delivers good scenes.
Some people can watch performers and completely seperate what they're watching from what they know about the performer in real life. Some people think about that performer beyond what's happening on the screen and it affects their viewing.
For example with me there's a pornstar who claimed to hate doing porn while she was "retired" but then came back and started shooting again. I was a fan of hers but I don't watch any movies from that performer anymore. Not because her scenes are suddenly bad to me but because when I see her on screen the first thing my mind goes to is what she says. I start thinking about it and I wonder if she hated doing the scene I'm watching and it just becomes distracting. I don't want distractions like that when I'm watching so I just don't watch her stuff anymore. On the other hand, I'm not the least bit bothered with anything Krista R. or most pornstar say or do.

I have to admit that I get a feeling of sorrow in my chest when I see Hollie Stevens in a video now. Hollie was a writer, clown porn and BDSM performer that passed away in July 2012 after fighting cancer for a year and a half. At least she is in a better place now (hopefully) even though she had a very crude sense of humor posting that painting of Jesus Christ fucking a lamb up the ass (those that have studied Christianity would get the biblical reference here) on her picture site right before she passed on.

Just finished re-watching Gang Bang Girl 31 and I still got off to Judy Starr. So I guess her death had no impact on my enjoyment of her scene, still sad though.

Yes Lori was great I loved her energy and sense of fun (and those lovely thighs)
I think seh was murdered!
And of course what about wkacking off to a 70's porn star, she would now be say in her 60's with saggy tits and boney legs and grey hair.

Thought I'd weigh in on this...
I suppose it would bother me if I thought about it - I probably just tend to just "shy away" from Haley Paige, et al, scenes.
On a related subject, Penny Flame.
When I see Jenny - oops I mean Penny - in action, it does cross my mind: her recent life experiences that have largely played out in front of a captive audience.
More than anythng else, I'm not sure what Penny, herself, thinks. She seems to be very imbivalent - in a real Girl Interrupted sense of the word- about her x-rated legacy.
I guess she would like to divest herself from her porn past - if that's the case, I'd also shy away from her stuff as well

^ I watched the season of CELEBRITY REHAB tha Penny was on. I'd never watched any of her stuff before that and don't think I've ever even her of her but now when I come across scenes of hers I avoid watching them. On the show she said she didn't like her past life and I have no desire to watch her work. I don't think she hated making every scene she made or that she didn't actually enjoy making those scenes but I know my mind will go straight to to what I saw of her on CELEB REHAB and it would just distract me and stop me from enjoying the scene.
I tend to not to like/watch scenes with dead pornstars, pornstars who claim they hated making porn after they retire, and when a pornstars says she didn't enjoy shooting certain scenes or were painful for them. In all these instances the actual scenes may look good but knowing the "behind the scenes" stuff that the first thing my mind goes to and makes me not able to enjoy watching the scene.

It depends on the circumstances of the performer's death. If they died of natural causes or a freak accident I can still watch their scenes with a clear conscience. If they died because of a drug overdose or suicide, I have a hard time shaking the feeling that their scenes were not a pleasurable experience for them and were instead part of their downward spiral. Jerking off to a scene that a star possibly hated being a part of and that contributed to their eventual death doesn't make me feel good.
Of course the performers rarely leave a note that explicitly states, "Doing porn was awful for me and in part lead me to taking my own life/numbing myself to death with narcotics." The reasons for their eventual suicide or OD could have nothing to do at all with their career in adult. It's all mostly supposition on my part, speculation that I'll readily admit is not substantiated by anything other then common stereotypes about porn stars. So it's not an entirely rational thing, but it is just the way I feel and I can't help it.

If I couldn't watch scenes starring people who have since died, I would be in real trouble. Most of my favourite stars have, sadly, passed away. If a person died from HIV, watching their scenes can be a rather conflicting and troubling experience. I know people who will not watch bareback scenes from the 1970s/80s because of this.
Otherwise, I don't tend to feel conflicted. Not any more so than watching a stand up comedian or actor or musician or athlete or wrestler who killed themselves/ODd/died in tragic circumstances or due to causes relating to their profession.

I actually did not catch the Celebrity Rehab thing with Penny Flame. That reality TV stuff is just not my cup of tea. I did read a good bit of her book though, and from time to time I have checked out her site. Its from her book that I surmise her torn feelings regarding her porn past.
In any case, a good bit of the enjoyment is watching the chick get off - to see her really enjoying the sex.
Quite obviously, if said performer is no longer alive, enjoyment of sex is no longer possible. You'd almost say the same for those that have denounced porn and claim to be scarred by the experience. I just don't see these folks gettin greased up and doin' it every night.
So yes, the deceased and the scarred - kind of a buzzkill.
Just my (albeit twisted) $.02.

When someone dies, we often hold a memorial service for them.
A celebration of their life.
A celebration of what they did to make life better for others.
Anna Malle, Haley Paige and Tiffani Digivanni, every time I watch their performances, I give a tribute, in ejaculate, for their work.
A performer lives on forever, in the memory of those who watch him or her.
These three woman help me smile and continue to bring me pleasure.
What a nice legacy to leave for others.

On a related note....While I have problems watching dead female pornstars I don't have the same problem with dead male pornstars. The reason being that I'm not fantasizing about doing stuff to the guy and he's just a prop. But with the girl I'm often fantasizing about her and the thought that she's no longer around pop into my head and just messes up things in my head and distracts me.

It's kinda strange with my feelings about Penny and CELEB REHAB and the other pornstars from the show. The first thing that struck me about Penny is she just didn't look like a pornstar. I didn't think she was ugly but she just looked so "Plain Jane-ish". Most pornstars tend to give off a sexual vibe even when they're just being civilians. Her look and the way she talked about her past porn life made me not want to watch her stuff. But I must say that I have seen pictures of her in pornstar mode and she does actually look the part and has a sexy look. But still...don't want to watch her scenes.
However... Mary Carey, Amy Fisher and Kendra Jade were also on the show at various points and my feelings on watching their stuff didn't change. Never was a big Mary Carey fan but my feeling towrds her didn't change because she just said she wanted to move on from porn. Kendra just pretty much said she liked sleeping around and wanted to change and be faithful to her new boyfriend. So I'm fine watching old Kendra stuff and wish there was more of it. With Amy she didn't seem to have that much of a problem but said she needed to get almost drunk to do a scene. I still enjoy watching Amy's stuff and wish there was more of it.

Got to say, in the vast majority of cases it'd be news to me that a performer was actually dead. Guess I don't know my onions as well as some of you guys. Personally, I don't have a problem with it. Like any form of artistry, that person created that work to give pleasure to people - why wouldn't you want that to live on after you?

If I enjoy a particular girl's work, then she dies I can still watch and enjoy her films. I can not however whack-off to her vids after she passes. I'm not judging those of you who can but my brain, heart and cock are just not wired like that.

Don't have a problem with jerking to Jessie Rogers, shes one of my all time favourites but I've got to say I may be something of a lost cause- I heard about August Ames earlier today and jerked off to her Blacked Raw scene within an hour and I'm sure i will again, she was great.

It's easy to say this but If you are watching a scene you have to try to put out of your mind that the girl in question is dead now but she was very much alive when the scene was shot. If you don't you might as well throw her DVDs in the bin.

I've got about 40 August Ames scenes in my collection and normally jerk off to her a couple of times a week- I can't see that changing. I wouldn't stop watching one of my favourite regular movies because one of the actors died so I don't see why it should be any different for a pornstar.

I started the process of deleting all of my August Ames media the day it was reported that she passed away. I got some more portable hard drives to go through.

That really does seem such a shame, obviously its up to you, but i'm closer to backing up my collection of her stuff rather than deleting it. She was so great at what she did and seemed to enjoy it a hell of a lot, it feels wrong to me to erase her career now she's gone

Each to there own and whatever, but masturbating over a recently deceased porn star is not for me. Especially in the case of August as we don't know the full extent of how much her career contributed to her depression.
I hate the assumptions around all this. Comments like "this is what she would have wanted" or "it was what she loved doing". We can't possibly know that for sure.
I hate that just because she was a pornstar, people seem to think knocking one off over one of her scenes is some kind of poetic tribute to her memory. It isn't. Let's call it what it is, an inability/unwillingness to let tragedy stop you whacking one out.

I'm not going to lie, not deleting my collection of her scenes is completely selfish really- I enjoyed jerking off to her and i'm going to continue doing so. I think with August Ames, this idea that she loved what she was doing might have taken hold a little easier because she was pretty vanilla for the most part. In an age where legalporno exists and girls are doing TA, gangbangs, pissing etc, she didnt even do anal- so its harder to think that her career took a huge toll on her. We cant know, none of us can, just my 2 cents on that one.

I did sound maybe a bit too judgemental there. But it is my honest opinion. Obviously I can't stop peiple masturbating. I would maybe feel more comfortable about it if I knew for sure that she loved what she did. But there is no real way of knowing that for sure.
It might be a personal thing. With Amber Rayne I cannot separate the performer from the tragic death of the person. The same will almost certainly be true of August.
