this question is especially for people that live in apartments or big cities like i do. how do you relax and deal with outside noise like people/televisons thru the wall, dog barking (i live right next door to a large dog that barks 4-5 times a day from 8 AM til fucking 10 PM), phones ringing, etc when watching porn and jerking off?
I don't have to deal with noise but headphones might be worth a try for you.

i figured people would mention headphones. the thing with headphones is i'm an OCD anxious type person so putting on headphones where i can't hear anything else going on makes me paranoid so it's not an option for me. anyone else have any useful tips? part of the problem is that the dog barking is very random so it could happen at any time. there's been many a time where i was in the mood to jerk off and just when i'm getting into the porn loud dog barking blasts out from the yard next door and sometimes goes on and on for 10 plus minutes. the only reason i haven't killed the fucking dog next door is because i'd feel too guilty that the dog died a horrible painful death. poisoning a dog or cat doesn't work very fast, i googled it.
Get some small speakers (like computer speakers) and position them very close to where you are sitting (you might have to use extension wires).

thanks for the advice ninja, i already do something similar to this. i'll turn the volume up a little louder to muffle the external noise, so this would be something similar to that. it works sometimes but usually the barking is too loud. Edited by - Opium on 4/2/2012 10:22:20 PM
I've had a couple of neighbor dogs that barked. Actually, one time it was TWO dogs next door. To make it worse, our landlady owned our house and the one next door. Her daughter had lived in ours, and then moved with her dogs to the one next door, when we moved in. So the dogs still thought our house was their house and guarded it. They barked every time we turned the light on in the kitchen or went into the kitchen (which was closest to their house). Anyway, you have to be diligent, but in less than a week you can probably stop the barking with a spray bottle of water (set on a pinpoint stream, not a spray), to startle the dog, not to harm it. Just zap the dog with a firm stream of water every time it barks. You have to be not lazy and keep on it. This has worked with us for the two dogs and for another dog situation. Every time these dogs got a little zap, they shut up and ran in the doggy door. I was training them, so after a few days, they kept quiet when they saw me, but barked at my husband, so then he had to start zapping them a few times and then they put a cork in it. Otherwise, it's only fair to approach your neighbor and politely ask them if they can keep the dog indoors. They may not know that it barks, or they may not know that it bugs you. Possibly they don't care. A week or two I sent my more diplomatic half next door to ask a neighbor to tone down some noise. They were very nice about it, and apologized again later to make sure we were on good terms. But we already knew our neighbors were cheerful and friendly. thanks for the advice lindi but i'm a little confused. your saying that when the dog barks go outside and spray it with water? will a water hose be ok or do i have to use a bottle? the other thing is my neighbors may not like me doing this and come outside and then i'm going to probably get into an argument. i guess i could say something like "this is my property and i'm spraying the dog since you won't bring him inside" but i don't think it will work. what did your neighbors say to you when you sprayed the dogs? also do you think this will really make the dog stop barking, he's been out there in the yard next door barking for over 6 years. Check your local laws and see what they are regarding your situation. Then follow through with police/animal control. Or one day when your neighbor is not home take the dog and drop it off at a distant animal shelter. If it has a collar take it off before you drop it off and hopefully someone else will adopt it or it will get deactivated, either way you win. I'm sure a good place to start would be to speak to your neighbor first if you haven't done that already. Just go to the offending assholes house and be really polite maybe they don't notice it and they think no one else is bothered by it. And the antifreeze was a joke....kinda...that'll get you jail time if you get caught doing that. LoL
If you use a squirt bottle instead of a hose, the dog won't track water into the house. The neighbor never saw me spritz her dog--they were doing all the barking when she wasn't home, but if she was home, she wasn't out in the yard. As soon as you hear barking, spritz the dog, every single time, don't be lazy.
I have a set of large floor speakers, a subwoofer and a relatively powerful receiver. I've had a few neighbors who just made tons of noise 24/7 for no reason. The guy who lives above me now finally got on my last nerve by making noise constantly all night long while I tried to sleep. The next day when everything was quiet and I new he was sleeping, I blasted music for 6 hours straight right under him. TBH, I don't think he got the message. He's an idiot, I guess. But it felt good. I know there's no way he slept through that.
As far as noise and distractions when I'm beating off, I guess I'm just pretty good at focusing on pussy and ass. It takes a lot to intrude on a good jerk off session once I've got a good boner going. No. I've never met the guy. Hardly ever even see him. I just know he sounds like an elephant when he walks, runs his vacuum cleaner at 3 AM, laughs and talks and plays loud music and TV constantly. If he's awake, every move he makes makes a sound. He's obviously not concerned about his neighbors. My CD changer is full. I just put it on continuous play, closed the door and went to watch TV in the living room. I actually don't know that it was 6 hours. It was just long enough that I lost track of time and I figured he must have heard it. I think there was some Metallica, a lot of Pink Floyd, some Guns N Roses and AC/DC in the mix.I have no idea what he's doing. He's not the worst neighbor I've ever had. He's just the one I have right now. OK. It's never been 24/7. Just whenever they're awake. This guy wakes up randomly and when his feet hit the floor it sounds like he deliberately SLAMMED them down. He then STOMPS to the bathroom (or wherever he's going) and a few minutes later, he STOMPS back and FLOPS back down onto whatever he lays on with such force that my light fixture on the ceiling rattles. I know that he is walking and moving with a lot more force than is necessary because he lives with someone else and I can barely even hear her. Ever. He's bigger and heavier but it's possible to walk softly if you're mindful of the fact that you live in an apartment 8 feet above where someone else is sleeping.
We once lived in an apartment where our small yard was back to back to another apartment's yard. One day, a couple of sorority girls moved in there. They had a habit of going out on their patio with a few other girls and playing loud music every night until after midnight. It would have been loud enough to bug the people in about 4 other apartments as well as ours. About the fourth night they were there, I opened the back door and said, as politely as I could, "Would you mind turning it down; my husband has to get up at 5am and drives an hour to work." There was a bunch of scoffing and giggling and snorting and chortling over there, but they turned it down. The next night, there was loud music again, as loud as ever. I waited until the next day, which was a Sunday, and this group of girlies was out on the patio again, entertaining themselves with some sort of brunch party. I set out my Sunday newspaper on my patio table to relax, and popped in a cassette tape of some guy from India singing. I don't remember who it was, but it wasn't Bollywood music. It was a more traditional warbling muezzin-like voice that you had to be in the mood to listen to, specially chosen as sorority-girl-repellent. I relaxed with my newspaper, chatting with my husband, and let the music play at a slightly above normal, not too loud, volume that probably would not have bothered the other few neighbors, who were indoors. But I was doing this on their behalf, as well. We stayed out there for an hour and a half, reading and having breakfast. Sure, it was passive-aggressive, but we had already tried the direct approach. I dunno, I have never had the problem of too much noise when I am trying to wank. How loud are their stereos? Οr even outside noise? Ever consider jacking off on your neighbors door handles?
When I lived in the city I had a problem with the neighbors 2 houses down. They played some sort of ethnic Hispanic music loud enough to be heard 2 streets over (let alone 2 houses down) every weekend from early morning until long past sundown. Polite requests to turn it down were entirely ignored. This went on for most of the first summer after they moved in. A "Best of Beethoven" CD played as loud as my boom box was capable of entirely solved the situation. I should not have waited as long as I did to get the message across.
The next time they had their music on too loud I put my music on even louder. I only had to do it once, and they never played their stuff too loud again. Actually, that's not entirely correct - they had a party some time later and ASKED the neighbors (not me, but the next door neighbors - my house was two houses down) if they minded if they had their music loud during the party. Nobody in the neighborhood had a problem with that, everyone has a party now and then. I can only assume that they did not like my music, let alone like it drowning out their own. Apparently it had not occurred to them that they were infringing on the living space of other people with their music. Perhaps they thought our repeated requests (mine and other neighbors) to turn their music down was some sort of ethnic discrimination because we just didn't like their music, or like them, or whatever. Maybe they thought by refusing to turn down their music they were standing up for themselves or something. Maybe it was common in the place they lived before coming to my neighborhood to play your music loud enough for everyone to hear. I really don't know. Other than the music problem they were great neighbors. They kept their property very tidy and put in updates and landscaping and their kids weren't trouble makers or anything.
