Could finally watch it and, though I'm not keen on technical aspects, I can say that visually this edition is absolutely satisfying.
I was curious about the extras, though, and had a first disappointment, as the original trailer was not included.
Actually the bonus material consists of an excerpt of a Damiano "lecture" on pornography, neither original nor interesting, filmed in the '70's (would like to know though why and where it was released and if it was ever available on tape). The other extra, is a interview to what remains of Eric Edwards, reminiscing about his first meeting with Linda and Chuck, which was also the first time he shot porn. Now, apart from discovering that Eric is an extremely shy person (which can partially account for his woodennes as an actor) there are two elements of interest in the ocean of platitudes he says.
The first is that the red-head girl performing with the Traynors and him was not his wife (while, if I remember well, Linda wrote in Ordeal just that, though, having read the book twenty years ago and not having it handy, I may be wrong on this account).
The second is that Edwards offers another confirmation that the story of the violence, of the guns and so on is pure bs, as he never got aware of it. On the contrary, it was Linda who called him personally to perform with her as the two got along fine. Edwards offer an explanation for the Linda resentment: i.e. that she was angry at her ousting from the growing industry of porn. On this one may have doubts, as Linda, as soon as she reached fame (if not fortune) didn't want to be a part of it anymore.
So, if you're not so particular about what kind of support you have, stick to your vhs: the extra are just not worth the while. But how long will it take to pornographers to ape commercial dvd releases seriously also in these not secondary issues?
