I have read this forum for a while now and figured I would start posting due to my experience a couple days ago. I purchased Black In The Ass #3 and Ass Angels #2 from Digital Sin. Well of course I had to pop in the Black In The Ass DVD right away to see Sharka's scene. My fav position - reverse cowgirl anal with legs up in the air - is featured prominently on the back boxcover with Sharka. Of course - it is nowhere to be found in the movie. Also, in probably the worst example of a misleading boxcover in the history or porn - Ass Angels #2 - the back boxcover features the cute brunette named Jenny Wings in 3 anal positions!(for example she is the girl featured in the very upper left corner of the boxcover). To my shock and amazement, her scene shows absolutely NO anal at all!!!! This is an all anal movie??? To top that off - Victoria Swinger - featured on the back of the same boxcover in reverse cowgirl anal in the upper right hand corner, of course that scene is also nowhere to be found in her scene!! I remember they also did something to this effect with Harder Faster #3. Bottom line - and I am sure many of you practice this anyway - beware of buying any Digital Sin releases before renting them - you will save yourself a lot of money! While DS has improved as of late, its very bad news to mislead consumers.
You've hit on a real pet peeve of mine. I think what sometimes happens is that the production company is putting stills from the photoshoots that are captured during the filming of the scenes. A lot of those stills might not make it even into the stills actually published on the DVD. Or, the stills are taken during sequences (like the one you mentioned) that ended up on the cutting room floor.
I've rented films with pictures on the back cover of girls staring into the camera while doing all sorts of nasty things, and then was thoroughly disgusted when those scenes ended up not only not having the images portrayed on the back cover, but sometimes with almost the entire movie lacking in performer eye-contact with the camera filming the action.
Digital Sin has done this a few times. I think they might be getting a little better about it, but it sounds like they're still doing it (I rarely rent DS films, maybe due to having been burned before).
I have to say, I'am yet to see this. I have only bought one Digital Sin. Most DVD's I buy are from Evil, ZT Video, and PXP. And all 3 of these companies deliver on what they say.
shark1, I totaly agree with you. DS has this habit of showing something on the dvd case and then when you get to see the actual video the anal or position you saw it's totally missing. This happens from time to time with other porn companies. Human error they call. But DS is pretty consistent with this "human error" specially if the video has euro-babes in it. ..anyway, what I really want to say is, do something about it in order for those guys to hear you (and maybe change their ways) write a brief review, please. They respect alot more a review than a simple complaint here in the forum, not to mention that the quatity of people that will know about this "human error" will be 20 times bigger. Writing a review is not big deal, write 6-7 lines talking about your disappoitment in Black In The Ass #3 and that's it. Not need to write 50 lines or any thing line that. ...Remember, the usual reviewer, don't get to see the pictures on the dvd case or care about it. If you don't make a brief review, chances are in a couple of months there will be 3-4 reviews of Black In The Ass #3 from the usual reviewers and none will mention anything of what you just said. ..So, the question is; do you want Digital Sin to carry on with this annoying practice or do you want to do somethig about it and warn hundreds maybe thousands of other potencial buyers of this "human error"?? ..5 lines is all it takes, my friend.
I hate it when that happens too. I love to see Sharka in action and teasing us with something that's not there, is just cruel. However, I have probably watched more than a dozen of DS DVDs and so far they all have been pretty good, as far as the overall production quality goes.
There is also no standing DP with Claudia in the 'Black in the Ass #3 movie. The DS editors cut always a lot of scenes ,i think ,but they should not show it on the cover what they all have cut . I like Back in the Ass #3 a lot ,the movie have a lot of gaping scenes .
Thanks for the advice Wally, I still have the last couple scenes to watch for Black In The Ass 3. I was so disappointed after Sharka's scene that I didnt get too far. Most DVD's I purchase are also from Evil Angel, RLD, Platinum X and Devils Film as well. Its rare that any of these studios have a misleading boxcover, so they have my trust for the most part. With other studios I may get one from time to time that doesnt feature what I was looking for judging by the boxcover, but in this case, especially with Ass Angels 2, it was just much too frequent. I never used to purchase DS in the past, but they have undergone quite a facelift since then - especially Johnni Darkko's stuff(who has now moved on to EA). I am STILL bummed...sad isn't it??
I also don't go for the screenshots on the boxcover. They can indeed be misleading. You would think the person in charge of the art department would do a better checking that stuff out before he prints pics on the boxcovers.
Hi Shark, Sorry to hear about the mislead. I wonder if it is mainly happening with the Euro releases? I've been hooked on their Erotica XXX and Teen Dreams series lately. Both series have offered top shelf talent with great production values IMHO.
Checked the BTS of both titles and these scenes were not there either. In fact, Ass Angels 2 only had about a minute and a half of BTS. About 25% of the back boxcover shots are nowhere to be found in the actual movie unfortunately. That is what brought me to comment on it.
One of the things I noticed with a few of Digital Sins titles (not all) is that they won't always list all the dudes that are in the movie. I saw a flick by them the other day that had 4 dudes listed on the box, but there were 5 and the guy not listed on the box was Joachim Kessef (the black dude that can't keep a hard on), but on the back of the box it didn't list him as being in it, nor did they show a picture of him. I avoid movies with this guy because of his less than stellar abilities at banging girls, I wasted a rental because of it. That shit bothers me, list EVERYONE on the box, be honest. It's like they know they've got a scrub in there, so they shortlist the cast on purpose..

One more screwup by Digital Sin. If you look at the box cover of Anal Perversions 3, there is a rcg dap of Gia Paloma. In the dvd, there is only a cg dap but no rcg dap. At least the dap is still there unlike Harder Faster 3.
When will the learn never to over edit and to check box covers?
So we've discovered unethical pornographers? Whoa. I'm shocked. Some of them try to trick us, for sure.
Another problem with pictures lately is that a lot of the box photos are DECEPTIVELY BAD (!!!!!) I'll look at a box and discard it because the girl looks like death warmed over in the photos....but then a month later I'll get interested in some other girl who's in that movie, so I'll check it out--and guess what! --> The girl who looked below average on the box actually looks pretty damn good in the movie itself! What the hell?
So here's my 2 point plan for improving porn overnight: * If you have a hot performer, you need to sell her as the hottie she is! That means better stills. Not deceptive, just better. * If you have a performer who won't do anal (or whatever) except in stills, either get a different performer or improve your negotiating skills, or have an open bar on the set.
Now let's try to put ourselves in the pornographer's shoes, to better understand why they use misleading pictures: Some of them might not even be aware of this issue. They may just have a diffenent policy when it comes to the still photos. ---> They want to sell as many copies as they can. So if they're not happy with how a scene turned out, they might have the still photographer shoot some different things....so in their own minds they think they're helping to salvage the scene by giving the fans a little bit more than what the scene contained? Or if they shot the stills first, the woman might have changed her mind in mid-shoot about what she was willing to do in the scene.... so now the only anal content is the photos.... and shouldn't the fans be allowed to see those photos?
Ummm, that's still a crappy move. Sorry, I tried to sympathize with the folks who use deceptive pictures on the boxes, but I still reached the same conclusion: they blow.
