I have touched on this in a previous thread, but the sentiment has come up again recently in different ways.

Just now have learned that a performer who I was a fan of in the 2000s has started an OnlyFans, apparently.

for those who don't know, she was infamous for having bad experiences in the industry, and for having a sad backstory.

She was just 18 when she got into porn, and it showed. When she dramatically quit the business in 2005, I figured it would be forever.

But now I guess she's getting naked again for us online leering masses.

Got to say, I feel super conflicted. on one hand, very curious what she looks like now and how she is doing. Still watch her old scenes.

On the other hand..... it is utterly bizarre and surreal to me that she is back under her porn name.

Eighteen years later, after all the notoriety and drama and sadness. Eighteen years!

Does anyone else here get where I am coming from. Do you ever feel conflicted about porn like this?

Duh, dude. The biggest porn companies (one of which was stealing everyone's content for years) repeatedly and intentionally hire known abusers. They threaten performers with a lessening of opportunities if they don't do things like extra scenes without pay. Some of these guys are out there making beautiful I Just Turned Eighteen-year-olds drink piss and vomit. And by "making," I mean not carefully explaining to the fucking 18 year old kids that they will still get paid if they don't do weird shit (if indeed they would even still pay them without the bullshit). Most of the porn fanbase is into kid diddling and incest. The industry is a cesspool. Of course some people are conflicted about supporting it. Aside from the performers themselves, the women specifically for the most part, I hate the industry. It's alot more assholish than is actually necessary to be sexy. And the women can't do anything about it because the agents and companies collude to exclude people who speak up against shitty people in the industry.

As I stated in the Allie Sin thread I use to like her a lot and maybe once a year or two I watch some of her scenes.

However I'm not conflicted whatsoever because I don't really care if she's back and I certainly won't subscribe to her OF.

If ever she shot mainstream porn again I might watch a scene out of curiosity but that's it.

Let's be honest, despite trying to play it up, her departure from porn hardly caused a blip in the porn stratosphere and it's not like she she was a top draw pornstar who quit at the height of any popularity.

I never feel conflicted about pornstars because once they leave the business I never pine for them and if I feel "nostalgia" I just watch an old scene. If they do come back it's usually a lacklustre affair and I have no interest in that. Plenty of new starlets coming into the business to focus on.

To me some things are better left in a time capsule.

The curiosity aspect I can understand but the not conflicting one. Unless you have been begging her for years to do a comeback then her choosing to go the OF route is entirely her decision so no conflict there. I also can't see why you would be conflicted about joining her OF to see what she looks like since you will in essence be doing what she hopes her name recognition will do and that is get people like you to pay her money to join her OF. The only issue I see is that it's unlikely that a 37 year old woman will look like she did nearly 20 years ago and that can negatively affect how you perceive her in the future thereby reducing your enjoyment of her past work.

I think you would have to be a real mega fan to even know the back story of Allie Sin. I mean I know it and the OP does, we haven't and wouldnt dox but there is an element of people who obviously like to know more than the 'surface' level. It's sort of obessive but not necessarily in a bad way, little like knowing how many home runs Mark McGwire or Babe Ruth hit in a way.

But most weren't following Allie Sin's career, didn't know she had left and immediately moved on to new favourite models.

I admit when I heard her post adult adventures had included children, stability, and a respectable career, I thought it was cool though things had turned out Ok.

But I didn't really think in the interim period that "porn" , or general adult entertainment work had done this to Allie Sin, she made 60-80 vids so got well compensated and could have quit at any point.

As time goes on, people who die around the edges of addiction associated with rock star lifestyle or incredibly depressing suicides are far more difficult to take.

I can separate the work from the reality as the business is all about selling a fantasy but from Shauna Grant, Kristi Lynn, Savannah, Megan Leigh, August Ames it's so inherently dispiriting to think of how these often vivacious sirens came to the end of their time on the planet and the desperate state of mind they must have been in at that point.

Tied to this is how someone like Jenteal, so visible in documentaries and around on social media just prior to her untimely death, was so alive in pictures and yet we find her just not here anymore.

Also the myriad appearances of Ron Jeremy on pretty much every era dating from 1979 to the gonzo ish early 2000s I find really unfortunate given what we now know.

Whether it's being reminded of decay, mortality, his Alzheimers', before you even get to his sexual assault allegations, whenever he makes his appearances they're distinctly (more) unwelcome and serve to cast a major pall over proceedings for me when he turns up with grim regularity.

I know every bit of Allie Sin's backstory, how/why she exited porn and her numerous brushes with the law after she left.

I simply "don't care" in the sense that it doesn't affect if I watch her old scenes and it has no impact on if I'm interested about her comeback (I am not).

And this holds the same for every pornstar.

It is not just about Allie Sin, for me. seems like my conscience is constantly rising up these days when I look at porn

like that thread about Leah Gotti. the teen sensation of 2016, another confused girl who did a gangbang straight out of high school.

Yes it was hot scene, but it led to an abusive relationship, violence and heartbreak for her.

In recent months, I have been growing infatuated with Liz Jordan. but I recently stumbled across some information about her on social media....

Nothing negative, nothing controversial. but let's just say it really emphasized to me how young she is. To the point where I am uncomfortable

makes me think: What am I doing watching this stuff

--------

Yeah, big surprise, the porn industry exploits young women, what a revelation, big deal

18 years old is a legal adult, that's the letter of the law.

But frankly.... these girls are kids to me. and they're doing things that will stay with their identities forever

What if it was someone in my life. How would I feel about them getting into the industry. I would be horrified, knowing what I know

so isn't it hypocritical of me to be a porn fan? How can I be a consumer in good conscience

Maybe I can't. maybe I shouldn't be on here

^Yes, it's hypocritical, if we are honest, because even if we pass on negative stuff (big peeves for me are incest and barely-18 content, and of course anything featuring offenders and abusers) we still ultimately support companies who make that stuff, if we buy any of the mainstream content.

Part of what makes OF revolutionary...we could technically stick to only supporting creators directly and forgo the big companies that rely on the industry's worst excesses.

This issue of adverse life experiences is used against sex workers so much. It's important to understand that sex workers are human beings, not Peter Pan and they don't stay children forever. If we're adults, we need to be respected as adults. It's important not to infantalize us. The relationship between adverse life experiences and entering the sex industry is more nuanced and complex than many people realize. This shouldn't be used to discredit every decision we make. Are we to say that people who've been sheltered are somehow better able to decide what we need? Many survivors and sex workers are very strong resilient people. People are complex and are more than just their victimization. Even if some of us have been victimized, that doesn't mean it has to totally define us. Sex workers aren't just objects to fulfill people's "victim porn" fetishes.

So, I'd say if you're interested in somebody and wish to join their OF or independent sites, don't let struggles they've gone through in life stop you. Don't use these against them. In fact, supporting them in producing their own content in their way can be benefit them and make them less likely to have to go back to exploitative conditions. If somebody grew up in the foster system as has been mentioned on here, that's not their fault. Why should that be used against them to interfere with their livelihood. Why not just let sex workers be fully human. In life, many people experience struggles and adverse experiences and we're no exception. We don't need to be pathologized.

Not being a smartass here but it sounds like it might do you some good to step away from the porn; at least for a while.
