So I'm watching Operation Desert Stormy finally and I've chuckled and groaned a bit, but I haven't really had the big bellylaugh. I know there exists porn parodies, but are there really -good- jokes in porn to be found around?
I found "Space Nuts" to have some really funny jokes, Mike Horner is brilliant in that one. In addition I think most movies with Evan Stone can make me laugh.
No BS here but Not Married with Children XXX coming August 25th is funny as fuck. It is the only movie that we have produced that actually makes me laugh over and over in the edit bay. We are going to launch the first-look movie trailer tomorrow night I think.
I forgot to respond to the title of this thread- Does Comedy Belong in Porn? My answer is why the fuck not? Who made the rule that porn should be about nothing other than guys slapping chicks in the face, spitting on them or violently fucking them so that their pussies turn raw? To me the word porn has about the same generic meaning as rock 'n roll. It is a broad term that has grown to encompass every style of moving sexual images. If you don't want to laugh then don't buy a porn comedy. One man's junk pile is another man's pot of gold or something like that. You know what I am trying to say. At X-Play and www.sitcums.com we like to say you can laugh and jerk off at the same time but I'm not really sure that is physically possible. Has anybody accomplished that feat? If so we would like you for our next media campaign so please call my office.
+1 to "Hercules". Older Jonathan Morgan comedies are genuinely funny. I also really liked M: Caught in the Act (apparently some rip on Jenna Jameson) and Double Feature!. Carmen Goes South is a recent fave. Laughed and got off to it. It is possible to get off to comedy porn, but like a majority of any porn - most sex scenes are weak. You just have to dig out the good stuff.
Awesome! I am a big fan of all the parodies yall have been making, it really makes the feature actually interesting to watch and review. A MWC parody will be great Im sure. Cant wait to check it out!
Just to answer the thread title, when I do watch features or vignettes, I'd rather it be a comedy than a drama. I know that in mainstream movies, they sometimes say that comedy is harder than drama, yet it rarely gets recognized at Oscar time. But when it comes to porn, I'd rather see a good-natured joke that falls a little flat than a psychological thriller or police procedural that doesn't quite work. I mean, if the porn comedy and the porn heavy drama are both excellent, they can be equally good, but if they don't hit every line perfectly, despite trying hard, I can still enjoy the characters in a comedy that isn't quite as funny as it intends to be, but when dramas don't work, there's the risk that the protagonists could come across as jerks or something, and it can be hard to enjoy the sex scenes between jerk characters. I mean, I suppose sex scenes between villain and villainess can be great, but those are the antagonists. If the protagonists are jerks, that can be a problem for the audience to identify with them. But I guess that's not so much a matter of comedy vs. drama as it light-hearted vs. serious. I guess that's not quite the same same thing. But try to keep the protagonists likeable, no matter how edgy they may also be. Edited by - Gentleman Jon on 8/23/2009 12:09:08 PM
