I've ordered from them a few times and they provide excellent service. The only problem is they never have anything in stock! I would order from them more often if they would actually have some DVD's in stock. Does anyone know what the deal is? Is it just very poor stock management? Do they just get 1 copy of a DVD in stock and then never re-order?

Vader-

Hi, please email me at ethan@fivestardvd.com in regards to what studios you are looking for and I will give you a window as to when they will be in stock.

Most major studios come back into stock within 3-5 business days.

Thanks again!

Back orders are frequent with online stores. As Ethan wrote Five Stars usually gets the back order item within 3 or 5 days which is not the case of other online stores.

When I placed an order with them I received the fastest delivery I have ever had from any supplier. I'd say everything on my order must have been in stock. (If I remember correctly it was about 9 or 10 DVDs.)

On the other hand - I placed an order for something back in November that was not filled. Gave up last week and cancelled it. I got tired of being told that it would be "just another 3 to 4 days." It doesn't matter how good the price is, if it never gets delivered.

The thing that gets me is that it seemed to be a featured item that they were promoting, so I wasn't very concerned when I was told it was on back order. I figured that they must be pretty confident that it would be in stock soon, since it stayed on the section front page for a couple months after my order.

I'm glad the order was a whim instead of something that I really wanted.

I've had a few titles that took forever to get. They were normally the super cheap titles that looked like the studios were trying to get rid of. I was probably better cancelling those titles or substituting other titles, but when I contacted 5 Star they always gave me fantastic service.

Just to give a counter-balance to the negative experiences (for the lurkers out there), I must say that I've only had very positive experiences with fivestardvd so far, and a good 3/4 of my purchases come from the bargain bin & special promos. I haven't had to contact them once. Everything has always shipped about 2 days after my order (and in one occasion, on the same day) which is nothing short of amazing since I order international. And it often takes 5 days to arrive home, from USA to France. Fastest delay I've ever met. I'm elated with their service, and shop almost exclusively with them. Just placed an order today (Taylor Hayes, Charlie & Julian for 7$, it's a no-lose situation), all bets are off that it will ship by this week-end. One thing I've noticed about their studio sales is that the 1st day, almost everything is in back order, then the next day all the stocks have been supplied. It happened with the Caballero & Vivid sales just recently.

Count me in as one who has had only good experiences with fivestardvd. I only choose titles that are said to be in stock and they arrive the quickest of any company I deal with. AdultDVDNow is the only other company that I've had a similar good experience and track record.

My only complaint with fivestardvd is that they seem to mostly carry lower-end company stuff and don't get the higher-end company stuff until a lot later if ever. I buy most of my Sineplex, Evil Angel, Digital Sin, Fusxion, etc. titles from other companies as a result. But if that is their business model and it is successful -- more power to them. I usually buy CDI (Cinderella) titles only from them and the quick service keeps me coming back for more.

We always strive (and I personally desire,) to solve or look into anything that can be improved on our end in regards to our product and service for the adult consumer!

I wonder if Five Star only carries one DVD per title...

I just placed an order with Five Star today for the first time, mainly because there were a couple of titles they had in stock that were unavailable anywhere else. I checked the status of my order and it was already shipped out but I noticed that all 4 of the DVD titles that I purchased are now "out of stock"-only one of them being a recent release. Maybe I got lucky and ordered them at the right time.

I like Fivestar, but another frustrating stock issue is how often they update their new releases. They often go 3 or 4 days without adding anything new. For example, the current new releases have not been updated since Saturday.

I've got a couple of titles that I want to order from Fivestar, but would like to get free shipping with 4 titles. I checked back on Monday and today to see if some of the new releases were added, but nothing changed, so I'll probably just place the order somewhere else.

I found my problem is that I check each of my supplier's web sites by genre (all girl and solo/masturbation). For some reason FiveStar has titles mis-categorized so I don't see them when I do a search. Its not that they are not carrying the higher-end stuff I want but that much of it doesn't show up in my quick-and-dirty searches.

I'll reiterate that I love their customer service and have had no problems with the numerous orders I've placed with them over the past couple of years.

CodeMonkey - try searching by studio instead of category. Category is subjective. Sometimes all we have to go on when categorizing a movie is a cover, which may or may not make clear what the cat should be.

I'm getting more frustrated with Fivestar as time goes by. I just placed an order on March 2nd, checked my Fivestar account the next day and saw "order completed, shipped March 2nd."

Now I check my account today, and the order is changed to "multishipment" status. One of the titles was out of stock, and is on backorder, and the rest of the order actually did not ship out until March 4. (Why wait 2 days to ship the in-stock titles if this is the case?).

It's not like I'm ordering out of stock titles. I place all the titles in the cart, finish the order, and receive the confirmation telling me that everything is in stock.

I've been shopping at X-Rent for two years now, and I've never once had a completed order where I was told later that one or more of the items was out of stock.

Customers shouldn't have to wonder if a completed order is really complete. I've been a Fivestar customer since 99, but my recent experiences with them have really been frustrating.

This has happened to me once (and that's in over three years), on the other hand, 5 dvd's that I ordered on Wednesday got here today (Friday). Now that's service.
Now if they would only carry "TRhe Whore Next Door".

I have to agree that Five Star can be difficult concerning out of stock and poor selection, but when they do have the items they do seem to come fast and their prices are one of the best on the web. Another store completely lost my business after thier coupons got terrible and the prices sky rocketed.

I've had qutie a few good experiences with Five Star. They ship very fast and Priority Mail from them to me is extremely fast. The fact that they ship for free with orders over 4 saves me money. Their coupons make the total price work out about as low as I've been able to find for the mix of DVDs that I order. If I wanted to break up one of my typical orders, I could probably save money getting some from one place and the others from Five Star. So far I haven't bothered because the prices are good (if not the absolute lowest) and I can count on them being pretty consistent.

I also really like their multishipment policy. It's irritating when you order a bunch of DVDs (say 7 to 10) and the company doesn't ship anything because one title is out of stock. Five Star has always shipped my in stock items very quickly and on occasion has made three (even four one time) shipments on the same order as titles became in stock again.

I do have a few gripes: One title, out of the many I've ordered from them, was back ordered for something like three months. It never came in stock. However, I substituted another title and had it right away.

Gripe #2 is worse: Selection. They have BUNCHES of titles, but not everything. It's weird how they have say 40 or 45 of the More Dirty Debutantes Titles, but don't offer any of the others. Ditto for other stuff like "Finally Legal", "Up N' Cummers", etc. I can honestly say I'd do probably twice as much business with Five Star if they had more titles available for order: Not just in stock, but available to order.

So, I'm looking for another retailer that has good shipping policies and has lots of selection. Jaded seems to have the biggest selection I've ever seen. However they don't seem to stock a whole lot and in their FAQ it says they can take weeks to get particular items. Their prices are some of the highest around to boot.

Speaking of Fivestar, what's the maximum time people waited for their packages sent to Europe? I've ordered from them four times and the first two packages reached me quickly but I'm still waiting for the next two (it's been well over a month) and I'm beginning to think I'm NOT going to see them. (Note that I've been ordering from literally hundreds of online stores for six years, and before this, I had just ONE package lost/stolen during all that time)

We've only ordered from them once, about two years ago (roughly). It was a Fast Times at deep Crack High title, and it was backordered for almost a year. We had honestly totally forgotten that we had ordered it when almost a year later we got a "order shipped" email. Probably just a fluke, but now we are very apprehensive about trying to order from them again because of that. The price was awesome though!

Upon checking with Mrs, Gonzophile, I was mistaken it wasn't almost a year, it was 8 1/2 months (roughly). Sorry!

I've had many good and great dealings with Five Star. In fact, they are the place I do most of my ordering from now. Though, there have been two mishaps that have happened recently. First, I placed an order that had three items backordered and it took nearly a month to get them. That's a bit longer than usually but I'm ok with it. Then, on my last order, which I recieved today but was actually delivered here Saturday I believe (I've been out of town), I got two copies of Christoph's Beautiful Girls 15 instead of 15 and 13. I'm right now in the process of sending an email to get this fixed. Every other time I've ordered from them, excluding the above mentioned one month wait order and including this last order, they've shipped out of stock/backordered titles quickly. Within 7-10 days. I'm very glad I found them.

Quick update to what I posted in my last post. Within a few hours after sending my email, (I sent it at about 4 am) Ethan from FIve Star responded and has sent out the correct item and included a postage paid return box. The order was shipped today as well.

EB, glad to hear everything turned out ok. Ethan really is a great guy and is always very helpful. I've been a regular customer of Five Star DVD for a few years now and I've never really had any serious problems, other than a title or two being out of stock. The thing I like most about them and similar online stores is their great customer service. That is the key to a successful company. I've been buying porn thru the mail for over 20 years and I've had my share of rip-offs and other fustrations but I learn from past experiences. Its one of the reasons I now stick to certain mailorder stores and they keep me happily jacking off to my heart's delight.
