| warrenwest67 Member Thanks for the mammaries. 966 Posts 1/07 | The day has finally come, I uninstalled Norton 360 from my PC and Installed AVG 9.0. I use AVG @ work and have had no problems for 5 + years. But from Day 1 that I had Norton 360 I had problems. # 1 they billed me incorrectly. That was fixed in a few days. #2 Then I started getting pestered to back up my files w/ them. Since I never did, for the past year Norton tells me I have errors to fix. Its just back ups but I always had to look to see if there was a real problem. #3 I know it was slowing me down the older the program got. I can't explain it but since it has been uninstalled my PC is much faster. Am I the only one who hated Norton or am I just late to the party? [Link] |

From CNET. I've posted about this program in the past and in my opinion is probably the best program that helps keep the computer from getting screwed up with left-over crap in the registry after an uninstall. It also has a feature like CCleaner that cleans other junk, however, it targets things that CCleaner doesn't. To be absolutely sure you removed everything, you can take the unwieldy task of reinstalling Norton then uninstalling it with either the Norton Removal Tool, or Revo Uninstaller using the Advanced setting. Here is some guidance in using the cleaner part of Revo that I posted. https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/topic.dlt/topic_id=134139/forum_id=16/cat_id=3/reply=1523029#post1523029 ADDENDUM: It now shows Please wait during the scanning process after the Scan button is clicked. It will disappear when finished, then you can click the delete button. If for some reason after the scan is finished the window is blank, that means there is no junk to be found. P.S. If you have any problem using Revo to uninstall, just let me know and I'll help with it. |

I don't think that was the fault of Avira. In any case, I've been using AVG since before version 1.0 and it has served me well. I'm on version 9.7.003 currently. For a firewall, I switched (after many years with Sunbelt) to PC Tools Firewall Plus (free version). It has worked well also. I have three PCs and I use these two products on all of them. Viruses, in all their forms, have been the very least of my problems. I have much more trouble with Windows XP, Firefox and Thunderbird and they are much better than I.E. and Outlook Express. |
