Two questions:

1) Is anyone else getting pounded with dorcelshop.com newsletters containing viruses? (I can't confirm their viruses as the email contains a zip file and provides a password, like a recent virus)

Either their server has a virus or someone stole their newsletter mailing list.

2) Is the Dorcel Shop actually working anymore?

I went to their web site to see if I could send them an email regarding the viruses but I couldn't find a customer service link anywhere.

I then tried going to www.NewPosition.com but that web site could not be found.

(the bottom of every page states "DORCELSHOP is a NewPosition.com website / Copyright 2001-2004 New Position & Marc Dorcel S.A. - All rights reserved")

I got a similar email, deleted it at once. I also completed the email unsubscribe form on website. No more emails.

I am happy with the other aspects of their service, their site in my opinion is a joy to browse so i'm not bothered about the email problems.

There is a (French) phone number on their website albeit a bit difficult to find. If you want it, email me personally.

I've unsubscribed so hopefully that stops the madness. I'm in North America and won't call. They should know the risks of connecting a computer to the internet and should have found this problem on their own.

Actually about 98% of the current viruses falsify the from address with a random address found in the addressbook of the infected computer, so chances are it is not dorcelshop themselves who are infected.

but who would put that address in their address book? I'll post back if any more message arrive from them. (There was from sympa@dorcelshop.com this evening)

Some mailprograms save every address you get mail from, some viruses even check for email addresses in your browsercache, many possibilities.

I unsubscribed and the emails have stopped. Not sure what's going on with their mailing list and I don't care as it's not an issue for me any more.

I'd like to order from them but this casts a shadow of doubt across their security, they're pricey (but higher quality) and shipping anything across the atlantic is cost prohibitive.
