Given that the normal film size on disc will be around 4-7GB will there be a significant compression of this movie? Or are file sizes no longer a fair indicator of picture quality? I heard Brazzers have some high quality HD downloads. Am i right in thinking that they would trump the quality of that same footage bought on a standard dvd....but not that put on to blu-ray? Standard dvds use MPEG-2 compression so 1.5 GB video on demand downloads may (by using newer compression) look a little better than a dvd that size, but could not compete with a 4-7GB dvd. It is more a matter of how good is good enough than which is better. It bothers me that so many site claim to have "dvd quality" when they clearly do not, and so few offer quality comparable to dvds.  [Link] |

Blu-Ray already uses one of the most advanced codecs available today with up to 40 mbit.
