I have noticed the subject of "drugs" is never discussed on this site. I know drugs is not the ostensible point of the site or anything, but the thing is a large portion of the public uses drugs legal or otherwise. I am wondering what is the real role of drugs in Porn.
I know a lot of ignorant people say "girls in porn are on drugs that is why they do it, drug money, or their so high they don't know what's up." I am not supporting this claim or anything.
I smoke massive amounts of ganj. Is the herbal common in Porn as it is mostly shot in Cali, which is the home of Chronic. And what role do hard drugs play in porn, I know if I had to suck off and fuck 8 guys I would take some opiates. Let's all be honest and not flame me for saying anything possibly negative about porn.
The thing about drugs and porno is that it is very hard to quantify how prominent a role it actually plays. For instance, if you believe some people pretty much everyone in the adult industry is on drugs (interestingly enough, Cytherea recently claimed as much on KSEX). According to others though, the role of drugs is greatly overestimated.
However prominent and commonplace it is, what's it actual role? Well, I'm inclined to agree with you on this point: [if I were a woman] I know if I had to suck off and fuck 8 guys I would take some opiates. It's not like it actually comes naturally to every single girl doing all of those circuit acts the market now demands. However, it's not just the circus acts that might necessitate abuse by some. For instance, Jessica Sweet aka Britney Rears is shown in the BTS of a film she did for Exquisite drinking beer before and in breaks during her scene. She explains that she is naturally an introverted person, and she needed the alcohol, the great social lubricant, to loosen up.

porn drives girls to take drugs. girls wouldn't take the same things if they didn't work in porn.
I think anyone in a high earning/stressful job is more prone to self medicate. My boss seeems addicted to valium and alcohol... prolly cuz he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
That and having sex on weed(or whatever your DOC is) is pretty kick ass. If I was a porno chick I would be the "Cypress Hill of Porn"... lolz.
That being said... everyone is an adult and NEEEEEDS to be responsible for thier own actions...
he said they wouldn't take the same thing and I agree people with addictive personalities will be addicted to stuff and people who would never touch anything won't.
But realistically when the porn family doctor is referenced in a Janes Addiction movie you have to acknowledge that there is an availability made to us that other people don't have.
There are also a lot of guys who prey on porn chicks and the easiest way to control them is to keep them addicted.
This is coming from my personal experience with the business. It's what you make of it.
I'd agree. That's a huge reason why I am for the 21 age rule. To me 18 year olds are still in a developmental stage and easily influenced. Like I've said before I had a director tell me to think about using cocaine to lose weight. LOL!Fuck you was my response at 30. At 18 I was working in strip clubs, surrounded by drugs, and never touched it.I just avoided people that did it. That's a small part of the "an addict is an addict" point. If you're looking for it, you'll find it. The whole preying thing is disturbing. I wish more girls understood the power they actually have in the business.Ok, I'm off my box now. :0)
but I know a lot of people in porn who have their shit together. And I know a lot of people in regular jobs who are a mess.
The other side of it is when you are really into it you always find reasons to justify it, so you go well I have to crash diet so I'll just go back on the powder till I lose 5 pounds, or I really hate that guy I'll just get wasted before the scene. It's just an excuse to do what you want anyway, and it sounds good in your head and it makes for a defense in your post porn life That one irritates me the most. I hate people who blame porn for their weakness. Although I accept it as a contributing factor.
I wish more girls understood the power they actually have in the business.

Back on a serious note, I agree completely with that statement. Unfortunately, there's way too many people out there looking for somebody to run their life for them, and it's not hard to do with an 18 year old be they male or female. The scarier thing is that there's an awful lot of people who never seem to grow out of it.

Drugs are pervasive in all walks of life. I don't think anyone could make a factual argument that proves that the porn world is oversaturated with the stuff.
Sure there may be a lot of drug use in the industry but I would say that I've known tons of people lawyers, doctors, the people in ghettos and in suburbia. Guess what... they all do drugs it's just a matter of which ones.
Let's face facts this country floats on drugs... everybody's on something.

not true. the porn world LOVES to say wall street's all on something. total bullshit, wall street, as in the fucking traders on the floor may be on something, boiler room may have told you something.
i defy you to find a single fucking vp/partner who's on shit. don't happen, porn-people.
Well, then...let's mix it up a little. How about male talent on "boner pills" like Viagra? For the most part the male talent in the biz are young and, unless strung out on the illicit drugs noted above, have "normal" physical sexual responses. Yet they have access to these prescription drugs so that they can make those 8-hour shoots back to back.
Doesn't sound good to me. More bucks now for who-knows-what kind of trouble down the road. And by and large (no pun intended...for once) with the unwritten OK by industry directors and producers.
As for the girls, I don't think the porn industry is completely to blame. Here you have, say, an 18- or 19-year old hot chick with lots of money and time on her hands living a stone's throw from glittering LA and all the trendy clubs.

As usual Devinn hits the nail on the head. The root problems in porn are not drugs or the age of consent. Rather it is the power imbalance between owners/distributors and performers which makes exploitation inevitable. Indeed the girls don't realize the power they have, but it would take some level of collective action on the part of the perfomers to get more control over their workplace. I don't know if that's possible in today's porn industry, but one would think the growth of the industry is proportional to the potential leverage the girls could wield on the job.

How much do the distrutors make? How much is made from the PPV? 2 G's might sound like a lot us poor schleps but in terms of the real profits being made in porn it's peanuts.
Sure like they're so high and mighty that drugs are so beneath them. If the president can't shake 'em... no one can.
And note how my post says that it's not a matter of if they do drugs but which ones. Sure I'm not suggesting that "VP/partner" is in his office shooting heroin but can you honestly say that none of 'em even smoke weed or at the very least have a regular prescription that they take for stress, mood, etc.?
Drugs are drugs and the whole country uses... not just porn stars. Some more than others.
Now I'm going to step off of my soapbox and return to more fun threads
sorry but that is a ridiculously stupid comment, i know once a girl hits 21 she is just no good, like the 22 year old i am dating now, what a dog. Whether you agree with changing the rule or not, porn would go on without confused, usually abused (often times by family members) lost 18 year olds. Hate to be sanctimonuous but I just found that coment a tad ridiculous, and I also remember reading Ramsey say how renting porno at a store is the only way to go, yeah and buying records is the future of the music business. the future of all media is online, and that is an exciting fact. for real.
Not trying so sound conceited but my dad is President of a division at a corporation and he had been known to have a few drinks, take a valium when he is totally stressed and even smoke the ocasional J with old friends, so unfortunately or fortunately achieving corporate staus dosn't rid you of being a human with vices.
wow i dont now to axe my first post, but i am sure the mod does, go for it i only menat for second one to appear, i am a redundant asshole.......apparently
-watch "Cum Drippers" with the georgwus Keri Sable.....obviousl old DVD streaming on CRLD
If I would have had that kind of disposable income at 18-19 I would have done a lot more drugs then I did. I am with Skronker, at that age sex, drugs , alcohol, partying, they always beat going to university. You're only young once!
drugs are good they make you do things you know you shouldn't and if you do them people will think that you're cool and if you do them people will think that you're cool
I hate seeing girls get wasted away on drugs one day they look great the next time you see them they are a bag of bones and it's very sad. I'm cool with the 21yr rule I think it would stabilize our industry.

Drugs are easily available in most places in California, not just the porn industry. When I lived in Berkeley and would visit LA I did speed every time. I thought speed was part of being in LA.
I would venture to guess that more adults with serious corporate jobs smoke weed in CA than other states - and occassionally mix in other drugs.
Yes, most people make smarter decisions at 21 than 18. But that's the same reason why some pornographers and military recruiters particularly seek out 18yr olds. Personally, I continued to make unsafe decisions well beyond 18.
my entire experience with LA has been porn , so if its an LA thing I would assosiate it with porn

I strongly disagree with this, there simply comes a point that doing certain things just doesn't mix with certain others. Doctors on shit get caught and lose their dea #'s a good chunk of the time once they start tailspinning(i know more doctors that don't drink than do, i like that), anyone going skiing on a new york tuesday in finance is a burn-out. this doesn't include weed, it's a fucking travesty it's not legal and i don't even like the stuff. the hours and hitting thirty just don't work with many of the drugs, after a point. 30's the line of demarcation for most stuff other than owning some bubbler and staring at it a lot.

James, your perspective is uptight new england. things are different in other areas of the country. an orange county example - a 40yr old oral surgeon brought nitrous to a skybox for some fun with friends (all professionals in various fields.)

steph, you're absolutely correct. the finance stuff i'm pretty sure i'm right on, you just get burned-out too fast if you can't do the hours "naturally", but that's here through new york with a touch in chicago. i still know a shitload of old people in the industry who own a thousand dollars or more in glassware.
