I'm currently waiting for the phone company to install the data line so I can get DSL. Yesterday, I received the necessary hardware. They didn't send enough DSL Filters for all of my phones/Satellite Receivers.

Before I go out and buy more filters, I have a question (because I don't think I need to buy more filters).

All of my Sat receivers and 2 of my phone lines go through a centralized junction in my basement. Currently, the only line that is connected to the yellow & black wires is the one that will be split between my computer and one of my phone lines. Do I need to install a filter on the other lines split from this junction even though they are not connected to the black & yellow inputs from the phone company?

Hey, I dont know the answer to your question but if you need some filters I can give you like 5 of them for free, I got a bunch of them that only take space, so if you need any then let me know.

Every telephone MUST be filtered; however, one filter can serve for many telephones....

TelCo -> DSL Modem -> Firewall/Router -> Computer

TelCo -> Filter -> Phone1

TelCo -> Filter -> Phone2, Phone3, Ans/Mach

TelCo -> Filter -> Sat1, Sat2, Fax

TelCo -> Filter -> Phone4

etc.

(All "TelCo" points above are intended to be the same connection point or junction - it is essentially impossible to "draw" in the context of a text posting.)

In other words, there can be many devices connected AFTER a filter but there MUST be a filter somewhere between the device in question and the TelCo for ANY voice/data device EXCEPT for the DSL Modem.
