Recently I have been ordering a lot of VHS tapes, because the films I wanted were not on DVD. I understand the DVD version of Maraschino Cherry is poor, but what about the VHS, which one website is still selling? This question would apply to a number of other films too. Is it possible that the VHS contains an earlier edit of the film?

Unless you're ordering from a place that specifically states they have the "original" or "uncut" or "unedited" version (for which you should expect to pay a premium price), the VHS will most likely be edited, too. Most of these edits occurred in the late '80s/early '90s, before DVDs appeared.

If you are looking for uncut movies made before they started editing them, you might want to try Alpa Blue Archives, I believe their movies are unedited, or at least they advertise many of them to be.

To satisfy my curiosity I have ordered Naked Came The Stanger on tape. This was an educated choice, based on what I know about the cut material. I don't really expect it to be the original cut, but it will be interesting to see. I will let you know.
