i have a question. i purchased a slough (10) of Falcon titles on DVD today and they'll be here shortly and i wanna review them but Aim To Please isn't listed on the review list. they have an Aim To Please but it's the cheap one and not the good one. so my question would be, how does a movie get added to list? does anyone know? i saw this title in TLA's catalogue but that doesn't mean anything...

hi folky - i'll get it added. if you ever want me to add a title let me know. some are automatically added, but many i do manually. also, if anyone reviews a title not in our database i add the title.

edit - i can't find another aim to please on dvd at tla (or any other store in our price search.)

Folkyboy,

Did you get your DVDs direct from Falcon? Aim to Please might be one of those that still is only available from Falcon's website. Usually, they sell them exclusively for a while before they start to show up at the other stores.

HOly cow! that is a good deal! Is the sale still going? Do you have to be a red level member on their website to get in on the deal?

I'm half done with my review of THE CRUSH, which I'm trying to finish for my first review here. I better get my ass in gear.

I didn't think AIM TO PLEASE was yet on DVD, and I do think there's another video with that name that is not a Falcon title.

With Falcon's next release (AFTER SHOCK) they will simultaneously be releasing VHS with DVD...yeah! Now if they'll only reach further back in their archives for DVD releases (FLASHPOINT, DOWN HOME, one of the early JEREMY PENN ones, for example)...

Sounds like you got a great deal, folkyboy, but I wonder why you didn't get FRENCH CONNECTION 1/2 or even BETRAYED, both of which I think are better than any of the ones you got, with the possible exception of NO WAY OUT, but, hey, we all have our tastes.

Looking forward to your reviews, if you still have any strength in your wrists to type!

dano, French Connections weren't on sale yet. they usually hold off on the newer DVDs when sales come up. and AFTER SHOCK is already out! :) it's on Falcon's site now. i asked them when they were gonna make their way through all the older titles and they told me that they are working on ALL the films simulataniously. that whenever they finish one, they just release it.

but ya: my friend Adam told me Betrayed was only so-so. but then, we're not big Kevin Williams fans. Kevin looks a lot like Johnny Bronson and Dylan Reece. it's like YUCK! get out of the tanning bed, you're shriveling! not to mention they act like they're more than they are.

I can't believe they want $150 for AFTER SHOCK! Even at $116 for Falcon site members there is just no way we should have to pay that much for a video (and yeah, I know it's a 2-DVD set, but it ain't 2 videos).

I like how on their site they say they're "listening" to the buyers, who want simultaneous release of DVDs with VHS. I hope they listen to buyers not shelling out such a huge commitment of funds for their product, even if it does have a large cast of popular performers.

I've been to ordinary; take me beyond.

There is no way ANY Falcon DVD is worth the kind of money Falcon asks for it! And their website membership discounts are a joke!

I vowed some time ago NEVER to pay more than $35 for a gay DVD again with the exception of Kristen Bjorn videos. By careful shopping, using store coupons, taking advantage of the KickBack Dollar deals offered by ADT, using the advanced price search engine, and keeping an Excel spreadsheet that compares the various deals I find (including shipping charges), I'm managing to average about $31.75 for premium titles (ones that list for $50 or more at most online retailers and for $60~90+ at studio websites).

It seems that if you wait for Falcon titles to be out in general circulation for about six months you can get them for about half price - even, in many cases, for the director's cut titles. You just have to be patient.

However, it makes shopping hard work!

I agree completely with GaySatyr. Having patience and shopping carefully will yield premium titles at less than $35.00 each.

well i'm greedy and Falcon is the bomb. i won't pay more than $50 for a DVD however, unless it's something insane like a boxed set. i won't pay more than $15 for a regular DVD though. i can do that by just getting them used.

but yeah: only $50 or under unless it scorches! (i almost consider buying AFTERSHOCK but remember that i can just get it later when the next DVD sale comes around)

folkyboy--you don't work for Falcon, do you? (just teasing)

Unfortunately I have to buy my stuff retail, though I do use a locally owned gay-lesbian-bi bookstore as much as possible and they do give me a discount. I would like to explore more "used DVD" options or trading, but that's not easy where I live.

Since I do pay more for DVDs and have been burned based on reviews done elsewhere (no names, oh, OK, mannet), I try to do as much research as I can before I make a purchase, including renting if the title is available. That's why I like this forum and want to contribute to the review library, and appreciate others who do.

haha! i wish i worked for Falcon! with Tristan Paris's ass as my personal pillow!

i can't find much used XXX DVDs, but half.com has a TON of regular DVDs used at very reasonable prices. it even has a wishlist alerter that notifys you when it comes in at a price you're willing to pay for. i get emails all the time telling me when my movie is in. i just recently got "L.I.E." for like $9. so it's a deal

Well, I'm certainly not shilling for them, but Adult DVD Marketplace may well be promising in this regard, once they have more sellers. Has anyone out there had any experience with them???? {Gary of Adult DVD previoiusly replied on a message thread earlier:

-------------------------------------------------------
We recently launched Adult DVD Marketplace to fulfill precisely the need you’ve described. We hope to serve a role similar to Half.com or Amazon Marketplace for the adult DVD market, connecting buyers and sellers directly together through an online marketplace.

We initially sought out online retailers willing to sell new DVDs through our site in order to quickly build up a large enough inventory of titles to make the site interesting. Our first focus was on straight titles, and although we’ve only been live for a little over six weeks, we are now beginning to see a large buildup of used titles on the straight side to augment the new titles (keep in mind that we haven’t been live long enough to get picked up by the search engines yet, so most of our support has come from ADT members and word of mouth).

We’ve only recently directed our attention to the gay side of the business, but we are currently devoting the majority of our time and energy on lining up sellers able to improve the scope of our gay offerings (although we do have over 1,400 new gay titles already available at great prices).

And, of course, we’re relying on customers like you to help us build up our inventory of used gay titles. Listing a used DVD for sale is very simple… once you’ve registered on the site it only takes a couple seconds to list your DVD.

Again, our site as a whole, and particularly the gay side, is in its infancy, but maturing rapidly. We need community support in order to make the operation successful, so we hope you and others will check back often. And, any feedback on how we can make the site more useful to you is very much appreciated.

The gay site, which will officially launch later this week, can now be accessed directly through the URL: Gay DVD Marketplace

Sounds like a possible eBay of gay porn if it pans out.

cool! i hope people sell good shit at good prices.

on naughtybids.com all it is is cheap ass porn sold at regular prices.

Edited to say that I went there and all their porn seems to be cheap titles sold at regular price like naughtybids. they don't even really have much by reputable companies. i guess everyone is like me and keeping their porn titles.

sure, go to XrentDVD.com and then go the search mode that's like longer than normal. i can't remember the name of it. then go under what KIND of DVD you want. and you can choose if you wanna look under the Rental, Used or New section. it's really easy. i got:

Sit Tight,
Lickity Split,
Married Cops Do &
um...
i forget the other one. i guess i'll be surprised!

Don't knock it till you've tried it...
Heh...Falcon's sale right now (runs through June 25 and you have to be a member to get this price) is $35 on selected VHS + DVD through their site. They ran a similar sale last summer (May or June I think) and then I let my membership lapse so I don't know what happened in between then & now, but...you can't usually beat $35, and you can't beat it for director's cuts of their stuff. From what I recall they have rotating sales, like right now there's 70 titles on sale, then in a month or two they might put 70 different ones on etc.

You can also get the Deep South *set* on preorder for $70 or $80 (can't remember off the top of my head which).

And before you accuse me of being a shill for Falcon...I'm not. Just thought I would point this out as the irony is delicious given your $35 comment. :D

(Yes I realize I am bumping up a 5 month old thread...)
