I currently use a Sony DVD Player/VCR combo for my porn watching: the model is SLV-D300P.

I mainly watch gonzo DVDs but have a lot of problems with DVDs from Red Light, PXP, Evil Angel, Elegant Angel and Kick Ass. Basically, the player doesn't even seem to read the disc. All the discs work with my Play Station so it has to be the player.

Anyway, I am tired of dealing with this player so I was looking to purchase a new DVD player and was wondering what others currently are using. My new DVD player does not need to be a DVD/VCR combo but I would like one with component video.

Any advice?

I've been using a Sony DVP-NC655P 5-disc changer for a couple of years and have never run into a non-damaged disc that it wouldn't play. And I've screened a lot of DVDs in that time (probably 500-700 discs).

Pioneer DVR-5100H HDD/DVD recorder.
It's been made region free.

Plays everything I've thrown at it which is a few hundred DVD's including PAL and NTSC discs and Pixie's DVD-R's.

I have a GO Video DVD, VCR combo that is also extra finicky about what it plays. I think it has to do with copy protection to keep people from taping DVD's. In short, the DVD player is almost worthless, although it plays a wider range of VCD's than my old Sony does. Go figure. When it wouldn't play my copy of Pulp Fiction (heresy) I had to replace it. Now it's just an overpriced VCR.

the Onkyo 6 disc DVD changer that came out in june 2004 is awesome. best dvd player ive ever owned. I love having the changer too instead of just being able to play 1 disc.

Is there a possibility the TV you have may not translate your DVD player's signals? Might be a DVD-TV marriage disorder. Just curious. Could be you need to buy a Sony TV to play Sony DVD players.

Death Star - both the DVD/VCR combo and the TV are Sony and they are less than two years old.

The other strange thing is that I never use to have a problem with DVDs from Red Light, PXP or Anabolic/Diabolic until a couple of months ago.

Anyway, I wanted to watch some DVDs this weekend so I took a chance with a DVD player from Panasonic. Works great on all of the DVDs including the companies listed in my original email. If anyone is interested, the model number is DVD-S27.
