It will play all types of CD's, including VCD, along with DVD video and DVD-R. The one quirk I've found in my unit is that you have to turn it off and back on after finalizing a DVD. I haven't kept up with the DVD format wars so I'm not sure how DVD-R stands in comparison to DVD+R. At any rate, I would suggest that you make your purchase from a store that will take the unit you decide upon back with no questions asked. That way you'll get a chance to test out the features (especially the editing) and you don't have to worry about losing more than the cost of a few DVD's if it doesn't work out. |
