fucking shit. i just put in a dvd (no it wasn't porn) and the disc is stuck in my Macbook and it won't eject and I can't get it out. The drive has always been kinda sketchy when you put a disc in.... it's a challenge sometimes because the drive won't "suck it in" (there's no tray, just a slot) and it will hesitate sometimes and kinda have a hard time sucking the disc in. Any ideas on how to fix this without having to wait till the Apple Store by my house opens on Monday? it won't eject when i hold the eject button and it's not recognizing the disc being in the computer.
Or has anyone had a similar problem with their Macbook? Is the drive kinda acting goofy when you try to put discs in a widespread problem or is it just mine?

nevermind. i restarted and held the mouse key down. I'll post about it on the Apple forum and see if they think there's a prob with the drive since I still have Apple Care. It's just a bitch to have to send the laptop in.
has anyone else experienced this?

I'd get a new drive with a tray. Can't be too hard to install a new drive (not that I've ever tried on a notebook).

nevermind. the reason it got stuck is because i forced it in when it wouldn't accept the dvd. lesson learned? don't force dvds in that dont wanna go in. User error. I read that on occasion it not accepting a dvd is a normal occurance. when that happens...don't shove it in. problem solved.

Powerbook is known to have that problem. It happened to mine a few times. If everything else fails, try this trick: insert an A4 paper (the angle edge) into the disk slot (needs to be in fairly deep), then use the forced-eject key. It worked for me everytime.

I have that issue sometimes. But usu solved by clicking restart and then snagging the disc icon and dragging to trash -- if you get frozen in DVD Player mode. Otherwise, I just reboot ...

Yeah, mine does this now and then. I use a business card and slide it in the opening slot, then slide it towards the middle. That pushes down the small "retainer" clip up front and then I pull the biz card slightly upwards which makes a bit of a "guide" for the DVD to eject. Works but you shouldn't HAVE to do this.
I hate slot-loading DVD drives. But you've no choice on the Mac....it's "stylish" and no way would Jobs allow something as ugly and as freakin EFFICIENT as a tray-loading DVD drive on his baby.

my Macbook is being a bitch and not taking dvds in when i try to put them in and it's pissing me off. i tried literally about 40 times to put 2 separate dvds in and it kept spitting them back out. I can live with once or twice but 40 is kinda excessive. any tips? i think my AppleCare is still good but I don't want to be without my computer for a long time...grrrr. fucking ghey.

i talked to the guy at the Apple Store and I'm bringing it in for them to check it out on Monday morning, and i still have coverage till next June (2009) so I won't pay anything. I think.
I should only be without it for a day, too, so that's cool. I can hop on the PC for a day I guess. They'll replace the drive and all. yay.
