For those that sell or buy Adult DVDs on eBay, eBay sent an email that they were shutting down selling Adult materials on their website.

eBay email:
"We have revised our Adults Items policy. Starting June 15, 2021, items showing sexual activity, sexual content or sexually suggestive poses will no longer be allowed on eBay.com. Everything Else > Adult Only will no longer be available as a category. No new listings will be allowed in the Adult Only category and good-til-cancelled listings will be ended upon their renewal date.

If you still have items in the Adult Only category on June 15, we will begin removing them. You may relist items that comply with the updated policy."

There are some that had mixed results buying and selling on eBay, but I had an overall good experience selling off old DVDs. If they are doing this, a lot of sellers who rely on eBay to sell their stock will be scrambling to find a platform. Luckily I'm not a big wholesaler with a ton of stock to get rid of. But does anyone if there is a platform similar to eBay to sell off Adult materials?
Adultdvdmarketplace.com hasn't been a success for me, or Amazon with their up the ass restriction.

I guess eBay in the U.S. is the last site where Adult material could be sold. I guess eBay is going for wholesome family-friendly usage.
Again, if anyone knows of a platform to sell off Adult materials, would be most appreciated!!

Did you receive this "email"? I see nothing to confirm this anywhere. I sell adult on EBAY and have under Managed payments and nary a word about this development. Not 100% doubting you but without more and how its just spam.

I received it in my email. I looked at the email sender as eBay Selling <reply1@seller.ebay.com. You're email from eBay about this probably went into your spam box, but it looks legit.

Just to add if it was spam, what would be the purpose of a spam letting eBay sellers know by June 15th (a month away) that your adult listing would be removed. I'm hoping this is all a big mistake.

It's true, I got an email from Ebay and a call from them a few minutes later. It has something to do with the managed payments policy. The new processor wants nothing to do with adult.

On a side note, I have 3000+ adult dvds for sale, if anyone's interested. They said I can list right up until June 15th, so it's fire sale time on Ebay.

Well it appears true. EBAY can blame their new payment processor all they want but they have been consistent-they do not want or support adult. EBAY has for decades. No this is EBAY milking as much money as they can from folks and denying telling them that they should begin to look elsewhere to locate their business because they KNEW it was ending. I even had gotten a second PPP loan after getting the 1st one forgiven so I could continue with what was a successful comeback after some rough pandemic caused business hurts. I could have avoided getting that one which I just got a few weeks ago as well as inventory purchased these say past 6 months. It's one thing to change things up, but how EBAY did this is in my mind criminal and if not they surely were not straight forward with us sellers and thus acted not in good faith. My business model is set up for auctions once a month on EBAY for up to 250 items. I do not sell fixed pricing as what I sell I leave up to my customers as to how much they want these for as I have a ton of oop titles and also sell new releases as a courtesy to those folks as I refuse to charge shipping.

Is there any site that allows the auctioning of adult DVDs in the US alone? I do not do international sales since those costs and the pandemic have killed that sector completely. Are there any reddit forums where sellers can help each other without the very business that is in effect "fucking us over" monitor and stop any conversations that discuss options? EBAY forums have proven to be useless and the world at large see adult sellers as "who the fuck keeps buying from you?" or "you should be stopped adult items are sick".

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And if you don't mind please refrain from the snarky quips if your intent is to diminish me further-I am good in that department already.

Yes, it is true. And there is an alternative, for now, at least.

The new Anti-Porn policy was reported by AVN Online itself (Adult Video News). See the details in this link.

https://avn.com/business/articles/legal/breaking-ebay-to-ban-sale-of-all-adult-items-effective-june-15-900875.html

I live in Canada and have a U.S. buyer who purchases US-only adult items for me on commission. He then ships them to me. He notified me about the new ebay policy a few days ago.

Here is an alternative site for you guys (so far) who want to sell, but with no auction option:

AMAZON.COM

There are some rules, which include not showing explicit parts of explicit images.
But you can, so far at least, sell porn at amazon.com

Here are two screenshots:

kd.jpg

amazon2.jpg

Note that the most "graphic" parts of the images are concealed.

And here is a screenshot of the rules at the Canadian version of amazon, amazon.ca

amazon.ca.jpg

So is it time for a mass migration?

It is good to have the auction option, but many just want to pay right away if the price is reasonable to them.

You can also rate and review the material.

There is hope.

I absolutely hate eBay for that decision. My guess is that since so many people are on VOD for their adult entertainment the profit margins dropped even though they rape sellers with fees. I hate their decision and it reeks of not only greed but intense hypocrisy. They say they want a "safe environment"? I can by daggers and plenty of illegal weapons that can do a ton of unsafe things......but they don't care about that.

The good part about Ebay was that you could buy other stuff then movies there, like posters etc.
Is there any other site where we can buy collectibles from the adult industry now?

"The Ides of June have come--but not gone."

As I write this, the Adult Only section of Ebay is still open. Maybe they're waiting for midnight to shut it all down. But why wait? Why not shut it down last midnight?

I have bought adult items from EBay before--DVDs, books and magazines. I never received any notice that Adult Only items would be discontinued. This is the only place I've heard about it. Maybe Ebay changed their minds. Maybe they never intended to shut down that section. Nobody seems to know for certain--I sure don't.

I guess we'll just have to check back this time tomorrow and see what has happened.

As I understand it, ebay begins to remove listings, but not all at once.

Maybe check now and then to see how many adult-only items are still available.

A few days ago it was around 730,000. Yesterday, around 695,000.

Keep tapping the refresh key and you may get about 300 units of fluctuations.

Decimation Update: 662,338 adult-only items Time: 1:57 PM EDT June 15

Decimation Update: 662,172 adult-only items Time: 2:07 PM EDT June 15

Decimation Update: 662,039 adult-only items Time: 2:36 PM EDT June 15

I believe they are not shutting everything down until July 15th. Today the 15th of June is technically the last day you can post new items for sale/auction. Many of the crappy sellers with junk just reposted all their stuff last night so they could run until the 15th of July or whenever EBAY decides to remove them. I believe items without pics of actual DVD's will be an easy target for them to boot first.

Just looked at the adultstuffonly site, there's not much listings for DVDs, but I guess it's still in the infant stage of development.

Since eBay officially closed out new listings for adults, where are sellers and buyers heading to now??
I'll probably check out Amazon.com if anything pops up there, which may not be much.

Kronas, thanks for the update! It's such a damn shame that eBay is finally pulling the plug on adult material. I was able to get all kinds of nasty goodies on there back in the early 2000s when I first joined the site. In addition to vids and DVDs, I was able to find lots of killer porn mags from days gone bye, from Hustler to Private that I still have in my collection. Talk about a true end of an era!

You are welcome for the update, Asmo, and I added another one this morning. Glad you could Grab lots of Goodies in the day. I think of 2000-2005 as the Golden Age of Internet Porn, in the sense of getting well-established and extensively stocked websites like RealityKings going. I only recently (in the past few years) began to realize that there were quite a few DVDs that go with the web scenes and that the DVD versions were usually significantly higher resolution and so were a real treat to get. I like collecting that era's DVDs in part for that quality boost. Also some web scenes just disappear, so grab that DVD while you can.

One piece of possibly really good news is that while it is clearly, as you say, the end of an era at ebay, it might be the start of an era at amazon.com. They are selling porn openly amidst regular items. For instance, here is a listing for Gallery magazine from 1992. It is being offered by Mr-Magazine, an old friend from ebay.

gallery_mr_magazine.jpg

Note that part of the amazon policy is that a seller not show anything graphic. So occasionally you may see something as ridiculous-looking as the following image. But we already have a good idea of what is hidden. It would be an interesting creative twist if instead of solid white patching, one used cumstains instead.

new_amazon.jpgI have also seen some images that are graphic and not covered up. Hopefully, amazon doesn't decide to remove all porn due to violations of their policy by some. I think the violations are unintentional.

SL_amazon.jpg

It is interesting how going back some 40 years and buying a magazine like Penthouse, you might still remember the images you weren't even that interested in at the time, or images associated with jokes, or the jokes themselves.

I think amazon should place the adult-only items in a separate category and location, as ebay has done.

Quick Summary:

Ebay is now approaching a diminishing total of about 210,000 adult-only items left.

Edit by kronas77 July 8, 2021, about 6:30 PM EDT: About 173,000 adult-only items left.

Before the attrition and removal began, there were over 730,000 adult-only items.

Considering Amazon doesn't want to sell pornographic titles on their site, they will never be a place to go. They've already caused issues with distributors over adult material being there. While yes, there are some listings that slip through, I've noticed that some are completely blocked in searches as well, and to find them on the site you have to use Google.

Thanks for your input, Flash.

I decided to do an experiment. Look for Kelly Divine material at amazon.com; first, within the site, then outside the site, using Google.

I got 257 items within the site, mainly posters. I got 4 hits using Google.

Many of the posters are bare-breasted. Amazon's policy is to have the "graphic" parts covered.

So it looks like it is still a bit of the Wild West at Amazon.

The titles I've had to use Google for are the After Hours Cinema titles. Which are essentially the only adult titles I've bought from Amazon
Some come up fine. Others only through Google.

Here is a link to the community ebay section where the topic of ending the sale of adult items is discussed.

Ebay community discussion regarding Adult-Only Section Removal

The following related link has some interesting commentary, and recommends the new site adultstuffonly.com.

Discussion of Ebay Adult Only Items Removal and Possible New Site

The adultstuffonly site now has more than 2000 adult movies available.

As of July 13, 2021, at 12:41 EDT, there were 100,383 adult-only items available at ebay.com.

In early June, there were more than 730,000 such items.

You can check my post from June 17 here in this topic, which offers ebay Decimation Updates.

There is a new website sellbuyporn.com that is in beta testing until August that looks promising.

They are saying that they have no listing fees just a 25 cent per item fee when an item is sold and sellers with PayPal accounts get paid immediately.

Will the sellers start their own site? do they have access to customer data informing them of new items for sale? there's a lesson to be learned here, don't rely on 3rd party sites.

Be well

Hi again, snufish!

A few of my ebay sellers notified me in an email that they were setting up their own sites, and gave the names of those sites. Other sellers are migrating to sites like adultstuffonly.com and a few other sites described in other posts here in this topic. The megasite amazon.com accepts porn if the graphic parts of the images are not shown at the site.

Does anyone know when ebay.com is scheduled to close the adult-only items section entirely, or is there no real schedule and they just keep removing items until nothing is left? I had this idea that they were to close by July 15th, but today the 18th, there are still 37,660 items available (3 PM EDT), which is only a small drop from yesterday's 38000-39000.

See my updated earlier post in this thread from June 17, which shows the ebay Porn Purge statistics in detail.

Hey guys. The ebay Porn Purge has definitely slowed down. We are at 36,740 adult-only items as of 10:12 AM EDT.

Relatively speaking, the number of items has not fallen much in the past few days.

See my post from June 17 in this thread for ebay updates.

I thought things would have been all gone by July 15.

Hi Guys,

The adult-only section of ebay.com is still open. There are 33,010 items available at about 11:30 AM EDT.

So the pace of depletion is now very slow. Before the purge began, there were over 730,000 adult-only items available.

Hey guys: Would you believe here on August 16 that ebay.com is still selling adult-only items?

There are 7,754 items as of about 8:45 AM EDT.

Back in early June, before the decimation began, there were about 730,000 adult-only items.

So they have a little over 1% of their items left. Enjoy the nostalgic image.
