Hi Moderators,

sorry it seems I can't send you an e-mail (this, i think, is a new problem...?)
I wish to edit my post as I just sold 80% of my trade/sell list, but I can't (post older than 180 days). Do I have to start a new thread with my new list?
Thanks

Hit,

that's the problem: even though the "Send a message via email - We're sorry, [ShiWarrior] chose not to allow their email address to be accessible." appears, I still should be able to write and send the message.
What is new is that the functions usually available in the pop-up window (write your own address and write the message) are no longer on display - let alone ready for input.

No, that's not true. Why do you think you should be able to send a message to someone who is not accepting mail from the forum?

As people in this thread have tried to explain, you are attempting to email a moderator through the wrong link. Go to this page: https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/ In the right column there's a list of moderators names. Click one and send them an email through that popup window. Do not search for a post made by a moderator and click the icon associated with their post. That won't work if they aren't accepting email.

Something's broke, I get the following when I try clicking on the Email Moderator button at the top and bottom of the view thread page, and the individual moderator links in the view forum page. Or is this expected behavior?

I see what's going on now. There is a bug. If the person trying to send a message to a moderator has the "hide my email address" option selected in their profile then they won't be able to send an email to a moderator. This is a bug. I'll fix it tomorrow.

Yes, your image agrees with what I have deduced to be the bug. ShiWarrior has the "hide my email address" option selected in the profile settings. Therefore ShiWarrior can't send email to a moderator. Try clicking a different moderator's name, like mine. I accept forum mail but ShiWarrior won't be able to send me a message. This is the nature of the bug. The sender's email setting is being used instead of the recipient(s).

This is the statement that was inaccurate that mislead me in diagnosing the problem:
The actual message would have been:
I didn't catch that until justalurker posted this:

It actually says:
So yes, it includes the email address of the sender.

You don't have to worry about a search engine or email spider agent picking up an email address. The email address in the email moderator form is populated from the database based on the currently logged-in user.
