I also shorten the sex scenes to eight minutes or less, particularly if it's one of those long draw out masturbation close-ups to obtain a facial "pop shot". The major problem I've experienced, with my amateur editing, is when I remove all the "bad" frames I'm often left with very few "good" frames. Other than resorting to "looping" them (weak) I don't have the real editor's choice of putting back frames that have been cut. A common example is cutting all the close-ups except those showing the actresses face or at the very least parts of her head. That can reduce a scene by 65%. Any suggestions?  [Link] |

I removed just the sex scene frames with "balls & butts" close-ups. I was too lazy to try to edit the dialog. Incest videos require a lot of dialog to establish the character's relationships in addition to creating a story line that flows from sex scene to sex scene. If you don't edit dialog carefully it can create a "choppy" effect overall. Anyway, I was surprised to find that the run time of my edit was 135 minutes compared to the DVD release of 140 minutes, which was merely a copy of the VHS release. A 4% reduction is not very much. I've edited some features that cut the run time by 35% (post 2000 features that were filled with close-ups and stupid camera angles). I think if I had edited the between the sex action frames I might have been able to cut another 5%. BTW, I think 140 minutes is a bit long for any video. 90 minutes is better. Fortunately, in the case of Taboo II, most of the longer run time was due to the dialog and not the length of the sex action. A couple of years ago I edited "The New Neighbors" (2005) from a runtime of 155 minutes to a little under 100 minutes. Most of the editing was reducing the length of the sex action. And so it goes.
