The tone here is very unique for a xxx feature, almost like a xxx version of Badlands (all the desert scenes and narration). It was also reminiscent of 3AM and the better John Leslie features, in that it very atmospheric and elliptical. Terrific cinematography and a superior soundtrack (the dialogue is all clear and well recorded as well, often a problem with modern features). Jessie's acting is quite good and all the supporting cast do well too. I'm definitely going to order a copy of this either on DVD or BR if that is available. I don't think a girl with a huge set of fake tits and ass bustin' out all over the place is meant for this movie. But at least SOME body, SOME tits, or a filthy mouth, a sleazy whore, give me something, anything special or distinguishable from most other girls. It's just too "plain jane" for my liking in every way shape and form. The only scene that was interesting to me was the one where she did the older guy in a hotel/motel room because it was somewhat outside the norm from the rest of the movie. Otherwise, all these scenes could have come from any other Elegant Angel movie with no storyline. No, although I don't hold Sundance to be the peak of filmmaking either. Just because something isn't a masterpiece by De Sica doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. When talking about a classic film one doesn't hear a classic-era fan say "Veronica Hart isn't my type, therefore Amanda by Night sucks" or something similar about Spelvin in Devil in Miss Jones, Bree Anthony in the Taking of Christina, etc. A feature is more than the sum of its (private) parts. The lighting, audio, and colours are quite something. I really hope EA try this formula again with something a little more original. I have nothing against the call girl narrative (it is, after all, the original pornographic story), but I'm excited by what EA have done here and I'm eager for them to breach new ground narratively.
