Basically, any Jules Jordan DVD from Evil Angel is probably one where I have seen this problem. Frankly, JJ is the only director I like from that studio these days (except that Jonni Darkko is now joining them!), so I can only speak about his movies.

I've tested that on a few DVD-ROM drives (don't own a standalone DVD player yet).
- Lite-On 16x DVD-ROM
- Creative 12x Encore DVD-ROM.

You said you use DVD-ROM drive for viewing. What software do you use? Also, does the fast-forward problem occur at a specific time index or throughout the whole movie?

I'm about the opposite of you. I almost always view the movie in full at normal speed, then when I replay it I will fast forward to those I liked the best.

I can't say I've FF'd through ALL of the titles, but certainly the vast majority of them and found no problems.

I'm thinking it might be your player or DVD-ROM, but I'm not sure. I play mine on a standalone player hooked to my TV set.

I have to say that I have not experienced any FF problems on a DVD-Rom with our movies, but I will check out FH6 and one of the others at some point in the next couple days and let you know what I see.

When I see the fast-forward problem I see it throught the entire movie, not just some particular scenes/chapters/times.

My PC is using a "Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3", a hardware decoder card with its own software from Creative.
It came as part of a kit that also included a 12X DVD-ROM drive. However, the problem still appears on a different DVD-ROM drive attached to the system.
Both the software and hardware, as I learnt later, are actually rebranded versions of SigmaDesigns "Hollywood Plus" decoder.

Maybe I can try other software.

What software do you guys use where you don't see these problems? Ideally, I'd like to find DVD playback software that could either use my hardware decoder or do software decoding. That way I would also be able to tell whether it's possibly a problem with the hardware decoder or just the Creative software that exploited that hardware decoder.

In the middle of the Katsumi, Flower, Brandon Iron scene, right when flower is squirting, LOL, the image Freezes. I can't FF or RW. I even tried to start FF before the freeze point, and it wouldn't FF past that place.

I thought it might have gotten a scratch during shipping, but it was securely placed in the DVD case, not sliding around in there.

No big deal, in fact I'm not even sure it's worth exchanging it with the seller. It only happens in a short section.

I am so pleased with the content I can't even stop to be annoyed. Just an FYI.

Update: It's later in the day and I just checked it on my computer DVD player to make sure it wasn't my DVD player. It won't fast forward or play through about five minutes in the middle of the scene I spoke about above.

I think it might be an encoding problem because I notice that it has the most trouble navigating around the chapter breaks, specifiaclly the ones for the fetish choices, in that scene. I really don't understand much about this, nor do I care, as that is my least favorite scene. But if it happened in any other scene, I would probably cry myself to sleep for the rest of my life.

Specifically, I just want to make it clear that I'm not bitching. I'm just sharing. I'm sure I could get a new one if it starts to really bother me.

However, the FFWD issue I'm talking about affects many movies that otherwise play fine, and also it's not specific to any single scene/time period during the movie.

Anyways, I tried on a different DVD-ROM drive and still had the issue. This time around I saw the problem on Zero Tolerance's "Black in the Saddle".

I'm still going to try other software.

I tried WinDVD on the problematic DVDs. As some predicted/hoped, the problem indeed doesn't appear there.

FFWD at 1x and all other speeds seems to show the picture with no problems.

Now I'm only left with 2 possibilities:
1. Either it's the hardware decoder chip I'm using
OR
2. It's the software that utilizes the hardware decoder.

It doesn't seem as though WinDVD or PowerDVD try to use dedicated hardware decoder, which sucks big time. The old XingMPEG used to use them, but I don't know if the new one does.

WinDVD is not a good solution for me because software rendering quality is signifantly lower than what I'm used to. I will start a separate thread on this.
