Like if you wanted to buy additional memory and install it yourself. I can find the specs on the MacPro's that are currently being sold but haven't been able to find the info on the G5's and prior. I've poked around some of the Mac sites but couldn't find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Many thanks.   [Link] |

There are some weird things regarding memory upgrades, my eMac G4 can only take 1GB memory maximum as per official Apple specs, but l did some research in the forums and found out it can actually run with 2GB, this is my configuration now. If you haven't bought the G5 machine yet, be aware the future version of Mac OS, 10.6, won't support non intel processors.  [Link] |

That's a whoooole lot of fucking money, whereas you can get G5's on ebay for $700+, with the ability to customize/max out the specs later. That's why I was inquiring about how much RAM and how big the hard drive could be customized up to. I asked a friend of mine from my area about it and he's 10 hex 's more into Apple than I am, so hopefully he'll know where to find the info. I was mentioning the G5's in general - they come in different processor speeds, but they should still have all the same bay space that you can plug memory into or add drives to and whatnot. I might be wrong, but that's the impression I've gotten so far. I was just looking for the info on the max capacity of some of its stuff, much like the new Mac Pro's have their specs on Apple's site. Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough.... [Link] |
| ChodeMasterJ Perpetual Marxist 5405 Posts 4/03 | Posted - Apr 18 2009 : 11:42AM clicky. it'll hold up to 16GB of RAM and the hard drives seem of varying sizes...I've seen them up to 250GB but I'm wondering if there's an upper limit like there is with the new Mac Pro's - theirs is a 4TB max.
