Let me start this out by saying I am not having an affair or thinking about it(I know you probably don't believe me). I just was always curious about something and figured this might be the place to ask. I have know a few people from my neighborhood whose spouses hooked up with spouses of friends. I always wondered how that even begins. I mean if you ask the other person something that is a start to an affair and they don't want it....Your totally busted. So is their anyone here that has had an affair with a friend or know someone who has and can answer my question.
Thanks!

I know plenty of people who have had affairs and there's one thing I can tell you about it that I've seen play out more than once - it never ends well. Never. That's not to say that it can't, but it doesn't. Not ever. Nope. No.
Swinging as a couple? That might occasionally work out. Might. Occasionally.
Affairs? All I know is - once you fuck up the trust, the whole relationship is toast forever more. No going back. Point of no return.
Even if the other person never finds out - that secret, that poison, that guilt of knowing what you did - worth it? Doubt it.
I can give you any number of reasons and ways they start, but why? It's depressing and sad. Gee, thanks a lot for even bringing it up.

Quite often, the ones cheated on have an idea.
How does it begin? Availability - neighborhood people are around each other.
Then there are signals - and there is a lot of time to think about it.
Neighbors also have parties - people get drunk, they get more flirty. Moves are made that can be backed off from and explained as being drunk.

It's just like starting a relationship with a single person, except you don't acknowledge that the first get together's are dates. Instead, you're having a cup of coffee or whatever.
I agree, the whole thing is nothing but TROUBLE!!!!

Why would I care?
I always wondered how that even begins.

Probably the same way anything between two people ever happens. Just kind of naturally. People usually know it when you want them. And people usually give off signs when they want someone. It just kind of.......happens. That's my theory, anyway.....

And furthermore, I think everyone either eventually cheats, thinks about cheating or wants to cheat. It's human nature to want more than you have or to have a different flavor sometimes.o

Thinking about it, without ever taking an action, doesn't mean much. That is just fantasizing.

Most start out slowly with little cues and hints that lead up to the affair.
Very few happen with a chance meeting, the one night that turns into much more.
Most are one night stands that you don't see again but don't forget either.
