I noticed that Extreme Associates sell directors cuts of some of their tapes on their web site (In The Days Of Whore and Ass Clowns).
I have read the reviews for these two movies and have noticed that the tape that they send reviewers is the directors cut which has some pissing and fisting.
What I'd like to know is how much of a difference is there between the directors cut and the normal version of these two movies. Are the only things that are edited out of the normal versions the pissing and fisting? Or do they also edit out the rough stuff too?
From the reviews of the directors cuts that I've seen, there is a lot of rough stuff in these tapes, and I was just wondering if anybody has seen both versions of these movies, and if so, what is cut out, and what is not.
I'm in Canada and don't want to risk getting this stuff past customs, but I do have a source here that can order me any tape that is readily available in the U.S., but seeing as how the directors cut of these two movies are only avaialable online, they could probably only get me the edited versions that is supplied to video stores in America. I'd like to know if the edited versions are "extreme" enough to bother spending the money on.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

It is sad that noone has replied to your important question which pretty much interests me too. However I just wanted to point out the fact that Extreme Associates are greedy warthhogs who are in the habit of issuing their DVD:s labelled "Special edition, one bonus scene not included on any VHS." to lure us into spending more money. So maybe you should do as I intend wait for the DVD to get (hopefully) the fullest version of Zupko's work.

Whiplash, the reason a lot of people haven't replied might have something to do with the site being devoted to DVD's and not the outmoded VHS. Of course it might be related to the fact that Extreme puts out crap about lepers and are, as you say, "greedy warthogs". I haven't seen a lot of their releases (mostly a few bits and pieces that convinced me that their stuff sucks-in a bad way) and few others have reviewed any of their dvd's here...

Don't hold your breath if you are waiting for Extreme Associates to release some of your favourites on dvd. I have patiently been waiting for Asswoman In Wonderland, Asswoman The Rebirth, The Cellar-Whole New Story, to be released by them on dvd to no avail. Months ago somebody posted here that they would be releasing a new dvd every week, yeah right. It's more like one every two months. But from the few reviews I have read, their discs are of very good quality picture wise.
Look at some of the garbage they have released on disc, it's mostly crap, other than Archer's Last Day, the rest of their coice for dvd are puzzling to say the least. I just don't get it.

This might belong as a seperate topic, im not sure:

Personally I really really love Extreme products. They're just nasty and raw. But that aside. It seems that DVD's are POLITICALLY CORRECT. DVD's are like watered down versions of the VHS. Take away the features and clips and still shots (blurry screen shots usually) and they are all just VHS movies minus the hard stuff (for the edited versions)

But my question is - how exactly do they go from VHS to DVD? What is the master version of the movie recorded on? Or do they just play the VHS and record straight to DVD from that? I know that modern movies are usually shot with digital cameras. But what's the deal with stuff from the late 90's?

HoutonDON, if you read this - Have you ever found a DVD that has still pictures that are actually CLEAR? lol. Every DVD I watch that has still shots is just screen shots from the movie. And they're all 1/3 the screen size. Why dont they save the files as full screen and use REAL photo's?

Baron, I think that's the point: "Take away the features and clips and still shots...". I like DVD's BECAUSE of all the extra stuff. That in addition to the usually better video and audio quality of course. It doesn't hurt that most dvd's are cheaper than their VHS counterpart either.

As to the "edited" nature of the dvd's: This is not the norm. Most dvd's have at least as much footage as their current release counterparts. Companies that routinely edit, like Vivid and apparently Extreme, are employing it as a marketing scheme. The format isn't to blame, the handful of crap companies are the ones at fault.

Source material: While the source material may be on tape, it's usually not on VHS tape and the dvd mastering, done properly, can make a huge difference in end result quality. The idea is to take good source material and make it better-not worse. Granted, Leisure Time, Sunshine, Vivid and some others seem to get this backwards but most companies are finding out the hard way what we consumers want.

Photgalleries: I've seen many that were high gloss magazine perfect. Look at many of the Wicked, Private, Adam & Eve, stills and you'll often see great shots. Why they don't always use full screen pic's is unknown though.
