| okuna67 Member 6 Posts 9/02 |  Posted - Jun 11 2005 : 1:22PMI posted this just now on ATKOL's forum but I would like your opinions on this: Just learnt that Falcon is no longer releasing the Director's Cut version of their old movies on DVD. I bought Download, Summer Fever and Spring Break and discovered that none of them has the Director's Cut label printed on the cover or the controversial scenes on the disc. I called the studio for an explanation and they said it was not profitable for them to reproduce two versions of the same movie, and that people prefer the non-director's cut versions of these movies. In addition, they said that if I wanted the full version, I could get the VHS copy of it from them. What's the point of that? Clearly I would prefer the DVD format since its the choice these days. Who wants VHS? I think it is sad that they are releasing the "incomplete" versions of the movie on DVD. No where on their website do they tell you this! Moreover, aren't they eliminating my choice as a consumer as to which version of the movie I would like to have? I don't mind paying a little more for the director's cut and am really pissed that they are doing this to their viewing public. I wonder what the directors of these movies think of Falcon's current policy - having your work "censored" just to sell more units! From an archival point of view - its just plain wrong!  [Link] |

When you bought those 3 movies did you pay "director's cut" prices? If so, I'd demand a refund. Hell, I'd send them back anyway, since unless you got them on a really good sale, the non-director's cuts are probably much cheaper elsewhere. Basically, Falcon just nullified one of the biggest reason people buy direct from them (and pay higher prices for their movies).  [Link] |

Nevertheless, it still pissed me off. I even emailed Chris Steele about this issue and am awaiting a response. Perhaps, Joe could approach him for an in depth interview to enlighten all of us about Falcon's point of view? [Link] |

The prices that they charge have always been way above what the vids are actually worth. Gayporn has always been overpriced, but Falcon has taken it to new heights. [Link] |
